Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support our Nuclear Medicine and Non-Invasive Cardiology Stress Testing program. The ideal candidate will have experience performing and monitoring pharmacologic and exercise stress testing, including Lexiscan, Bruce Protocol treadmill testing, and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography. This role works closely with Nuclear Medicine, Echocardiography, and Cardiology providers to deliver safe, high-quality cardiovascular care.

Combining the strengths of two leading healthcare organizations, Orlando Health and the highly respected physicians of Watson Clinic are expanding access to award-winning specialty care for patients throughout Polk County and beyond.
In this role, the Registered Nurse will collaborate closely with Nuclear Medicine technologists, Echocardiography staff, cardiologists, and other members of the cardiovascular team to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of diagnostic cardiac testing. The successful candidate will possess strong clinical assessment skills, the ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient condition during testing, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient-centered care throughout the diagnostic process.
Our new facility at 4000 Lakeland Highlands Road, Lakeland, FL, the Nuclear Medicine Laboratory will require seven-day-per-week coverage from both EKG Technologists and Registered Nurses (RNs) to support Nuclear Medicine and Graded Exercise Stress Testing (GXT) services. This staffing model is essential to ensure consistent patient access, operational efficiency, and seamless delivery of diagnostic cardiac testing throughout the week.

  • Full-time position (2 openings available)
  • Flexible daytime schedule, Monday through Friday
  • Standard hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Occasional weekend coverage may be required based on business needs

Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of cardiac stress testing experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience performing a variety of cardiac stress testing procedures, including:
    • Lexiscan (Regadenoson) stress testing
    • Bruce Protocol treadmill testing
    • Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography
    • Exercise treadmill stress testing
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation and emergency response procedures
  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including:
    • Nuclear Medicine

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates critical knowledge, clinical skills, and sound judgment in caring for patients requiring complex assessments, advanced therapies, high-intensity interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.
  • Utilizes patient information and assessment data to anticipate needs, respond confidently, and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions.

  • Monitors, adjusts, and manages specialized patient care equipment while interpreting and documenting electronic data, including intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, respirators, ventilators, oxygen pumps, and other monitoring devices.
  • Responds appropriately to life-saving situations in accordance with nursing standards, protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Observes, monitors, and evaluates patient conditions; recognizes significant changes, communicates concerns to physicians, and initiates emergency interventions when necessary.
  • Assesses patient needs and develops, implements, and revises individualized plans of care based on patient responses and expected outcomes.
  • Promotes diversity and inclusion by fostering respectful relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and healthcare team members.
  • Functions as a patient and family advocate.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients served within the assigned unit or department.
  • Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician as assigned.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with physicians, medical staff, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and unit operations.
  • Acts as a professional role model while supporting hospital and nursing department goals, initiatives, and strategies.
  • Applies knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan to assess patient needs and provide appropriate age-specific care.
  • Coordinates care delivery and delegates responsibilities appropriately among healthcare team members based on patient needs and staff qualifications.
  • Documents patient care accurately, consistently, and according to regulatory and organizational standards, including assessments, education, medication administration, treatments, and safety measures.

Qualifications
Education & Training
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Successfully meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements established by Orlando Health and the assigned unit/department.

Licensure & Certifications
  • Maintains a current State of Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license or a valid eNLC multistate RN license.
  • Maintains current Basic Life Support (BLS) / Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Advanced certifications may be required based on specialty area, including:
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • NRP certification is required for positions within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Experience
