Job title: Traveling Network Engineer

Duration: 12+ months

Only on W2

Clearance Requirement:

  • Must hold an active Secret security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 90-100% travel requirement.
  • Lead network survey, design and installations under direction of the government.
  • Conduct Site Surveys of customer premise networks in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Install, connect, and test network infrastructure equipment (ex. Switches, firewalls, routers, wireless access points, and wireless controllers)
  • Create detailed Site Survey reports detailing a siteโ€™s current infrastructure, NIST and TEMPEST compliance, along with design recommendations.
  • Configure, install, test, certify, and troubleshoot network infrastructure cabling.
  • Ensure Network cabling infrastructure is compliant with current NIST and TEMPEST Standards.
  • Build and install equipment racks.
  • Install, dress, label, and terminate Cat6 and Fiber cable in telecommunications rooms.
  • Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues on SIPR and NIPR networks.
  • Create accurate reports and documentation to design/certify network infrastructure.
  • Track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Develop Bills of Material (BOM) for network plant design requirements.
  • Plan and perform preventive maintenance and scheduled upgrades (Life-cycle replacements)
  • Investigate physical faults in the network.
  • Report network infrastructure deployment status to key stakeholders.
  • Have flexible working hours to be available to support off hour work, when needed.

Must haves:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Understanding of ANSI/TIA-568 and 569 standards.
  • Requirements of Protective Distribution Systems (PDS) for Classified Systems as directed by Security and/or the Certified Tempest Technical Authority (CTTA).
  • Knowledge of National Security Telecommunication & Information Systems Security Instruction (NTISSI) 7003.
  • Knowledge of DISA network topologies and standards.
  • Topology and rack elevations using Visio.
  • Experience with various OTDR, cable testers, and network sniffers to develop reports for infrastructure certification documentation.
