Job description


The qualified applicant will report to the Head Softball Coach & Executive Director of
Intercollegiate Athletics. The assistant coach will assist in directing all aspects of the softball
program with an emphasis on pitching. Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
recruitment of quality student-athletes, scheduling, managing and coaching games, planning
and conducting practices, organizing team travel, monitoring student-athletes' academic
progress, equipment maintenance and purchases, and administrative duties required to
maintain a competitive softball program. Additionally, a thorough understanding of and
accountability to NCAA, Old Dominion Athletic Conference and institutional rules and
regulations is necessary.
Review of applications will begin immediately. This is a 12-month, full-time position with
benefits. Qualifications include a minimum of a bachelor's degree. Preference will be given to
applicants with college coaching and/or pitching coach experience. Salary is commensurate
with experience and qualifications. Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by the
college's auto insurance carrier.
