Job description

Job Description
Head Coach:
Responsible for all coaching of practices and competitions at Special Olympic Softball events.
  • Provides coaching, supervision, and safety oversight at all practices, games, and regional/state competitions.
  • Ensures all medical forms are on hand at all events.
  • Prepares line-up and field positions for all games.
  • May be responsible for transporting athletes in a van, or riding bus to provide supervision of athletes to and from events.
  • Plans for state competitions and may attend meetings as requested by the Special Olympic Coordinator.
  • Communicate all needs, issues, and conflicts to the SO Coordinator in a timely manner. Any MUI/UI incidents should also be included.
  • Manages/maintains team equipment.
  • Maintains current background check and trainings as required by Special Olympics Ohio.

Asst. Coach:
Responsible for assisting the Head Coach with coaching practices and competitions at Special Olympic Softball events, as well as the following tasks:
  • Provides coaching, supervision, and safety oversight at all practices, games, and regional/state competitions.
  • Ensures all medical forms are on hand at all events.
  • May be responsible for transporting athletes in a van, or riding bus to provide supervision of athletes to and from events.
  • Communicate all needs, issues, and conflicts to the SO Coordinator in a timely manner. Any MUI/UI incidents should also be included.
  • Manages/maintains team equipment.
  • Maintains current background check and trainings as required by Special Olympics Ohio.

Experience and Skills
Knowledgeable of softball rules, valid Ohio driver's license and excellent driving record, prior softball coaching experience preferred; experience with DD population a plus.
