ASPIRUS ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL in Duluth, MN is seeking a TRAUMA REGISTRAR to join our TRAUMA PROGRAM team!
Salary Range: $21.42 - $31.06 Hourly
Schedule/Hours: DAY ONLY, 8 hours
Weekend Requirement: Generally No Weekends
FTE: FULL TIME, 1.0 FTE or 80 Hours Biweekly
The Trauma Registrar is responsible for Trauma Registry case identification, medical record abstracting, data entry, and other related functions for the Trauma Program. Monitors Trauma Registry data and all other related functions to ensure compliance with trauma standards of care determined by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the State of Minnesota and St. Luke's.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Associates Degree in Health Information Management; OR
  • Experience: Two (2) years experience in abstracting medical records or in trauma registry; OR
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology.
  • Experience: Experience abstracting medical records, and/or experience working with a Trauma Registry and Trauma base software or other Trauma Registry software.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), or Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) upon hire into position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of principles of information systems; of medical and hospital terminology; anatomy and physiology; pathophysiology; statistical calculations; information display; ICD-10 and AIS coding. Demonstrates skill in data entry and office management programs; Word, Excel, Power Point. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, work independently, demonstrate good judgment in determining work priorities, understand and comply with policies and procedures related to confidentiality. Ability to use good judgment and problem solving techniques. Above average investigation skills. Ability to see, hear, speak English and sit for long periods. Ability to concentrate for an entire workday performing the same task with a high level of accuracy and demonstrates attention to detail with high levels of accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality; to establish and maintain good working relationships with others.
  • READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
  • SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
