Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Transporter provides safe and dependable transportation of food and goods for Starfish Family Services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school education or GED equivalent.
  • Experience transporting goods.
  • A driving record that meets both our SFS and our insurance carrier's guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide safe and timely transportation of food and goods as assigned.
  • Adhere to all traffic and safety regulations related to transporting program participants.
  • Communicate any concerns related to program participants to appropriate program manager.
  • Maintain driving record that is insurable by agency's auto insurance.
  • Maintain valid chauffeur's license by the State of Michigan Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
  • Interact with staff, visitors, etc. in a respectful manner.
  • Represent agency in professional manner at all times.
  • Ensure vehicle is maintained according to manufacturer's schedule and that all necessary repairs are completed.
  • Perform/document all vehicle inspections per DOT regulations.
  • Maintain recordkeeping as required in the transportation of goods and food.
  • Assist in creating/updating transportation schedules.
  • Work cooperatively as a member of a team with other program staff and supervisory staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining required documentation including reporting in a complete and timely manner.
  • Cooperate in any investigation related to personnel, licensing, accreditation or other circumstances.
  • Attend all agency/departmental meetings/trainings as required.
  • Maintains contact with primary site at all times.
  • Ensures that vehicle is kept fueled and clean, inside and out.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time – up to 100% of the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and push up to 50 lbs. with heavy, repetitive loading.
  • Ability to drive in various weather conditions.

LICENSING AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a current and valid State of Michigan Driver's or Chauffeur's license and automobile insurance that is insurable. Must meet SFS insurance carrier guidelines.
  • Ability to comfortably drive in all weather conditions.
