Position Overview
The Carrier Management Supervisor is responsible for developing linehaul pricing strategies, optimizing transportation routes, and managing carrier procurement and rate structures. This role requires strong market insight, analytical capability, and hands-on experience in carrier sourcing within the parcel or transportation industry. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of U.S. carriers, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to rapidly build a high-quality carrier network.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pricing Strategy & Market Intelligence
• Conduct continuous market research on U.S. linehaul and parcel transportation trends, competitor pricing, and capacity dynamics.
• Develop quarterly and annual pricing strategies based on market conditions, cost structures, and competitive analysis.
• Identify cost-optimization opportunities through data analysis and implement pricing improvements.
2. Route Planning & Cross-Functional Coordination
• Collaborate closely with station operations to design optimal transportation routes balancing cost, transit time, and reliability.
• Lead route optimization initiatives, including lane redesign, consolidation, direct-haul strategies, and carrier mix adjustments.
• Conduct multi-carrier quotation and negotiation processes to secure the best pricing and service performance.
3. Carrier Procurement & Rate Management
• Lead end-to-end RFP/RFQ processes, including requirements definition, bid management, evaluation, negotiation, and award decisions.
• Manage spot quotes to support urgent or unplanned transportation needs while maintaining cost discipline.
• Maintain and update carrier rate cards, ensuring accuracy, version control, and audit readiness.
• Expand and manage the carrier network, rapidly onboarding high-quality carriers to support business growth.
• Monitor carrier performance through KPI reviews (on-time performance, damage rate, responsiveness, pricing stability, etc.).
4. Data Analysis & Process Optimization
• Use analytical tools to monitor pricing trends, lane performance, and carrier KPIs.
• Drive standardization and systemization of carrier management processes to improve efficiency and transparency.
• Work with Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure contract compliance, pricing governance, and billing accuracy.
Qualifications
Experience
• 3+ years of experience in carrier procurement, pricing management, transportation operations, or related roles.
• Prior experience in the parcel, express, 3PL, or linehaul transportation industry is required.
• Strong understanding of U.S. carrier landscape (FTL, LTL, parcel, regional carriers).
• Proven experience managing RFPs, negotiating carrier contracts, and maintaining rate structures.
Skills
• Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Excel and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English and Chinese is highly preferred.
Education
• Bachelor's degree or above in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
• Experience in FTL/LTL route design or network planning.
• Experience building carrier KPI frameworks.
• Familiarity with transportation cost modeling or pricing forecasting.
