Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Transportation Safety Specialist to join our growing OTR transportation team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring DOT compliance, maintaining driver qualification files, and supporting driver onboarding and safety initiatives.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, excellent organizational skills, and experience in transportation compliance.
Office Hours: Monday thru Friday; 9am to 6pm
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files in compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
  • Coordinate driver onboarding, including background checks, MVRs, drug/alcohol clearinghouse queries, and required documentation.
  • Conduct and support new driver orientation.
  • Monitor driver compliance (medical cards, CDLs, annual reviews, training deadlines).
  • Prepare and maintain compliance reports and audit documentation.
  • Assist with DOT audits and safety reviews.
  • Track and report safety metrics, violations, and incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Communicate with drivers regarding safety policies and compliance requirements.
 
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years experience in transportation safety or DOT compliance preferred.
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DQ file requirements.
  • Experience with clearinghouse queries and driver onboarding processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation management systems.
  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
