What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker is expanding its Highway Practice and is seeking a motivated and dynamic Highway Project Manager to join our Indiana Transportation Team. This role supports a broad range of transportation clients, including INDOT and local agencies, and focuses on the successful delivery of public works infrastructure projects.  The Highway Project Manager will lead engineering design and project execution for roadway, highway, and freeway projects across Indiana, with occasional support on projects in other states. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in transportation design, proven project management skills, and established client relationships.
 
What You'll Do:
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of complex roadway and highway projects
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of roadway design, including geometry, hydrology and hydraulics, structures, and traffic elements
  • Lead plan production for design-bid-build and/or design-build transportation projects
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, invoicing, and client expectations
  • Direct, coordinate, and review work performed by internal staff and subconsultant teams
  • Mentor, train, and support the professional development of engineering staff
  • Collaborate with engineers and planners to develop pursuit strategies and teaming arrangements
  • Assist with pursuit capture plans, shortlist interviews, and client presentations
  • Maintain and grow existing client relationships while supporting business development efforts

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Indiana
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in roadway design (INDOT experience strongly preferred)
  • Proven success managing transportation projects from both technical and financial perspectives
  • Working knowledge of INDOT and local agency project delivery requirements
  • Proficiency in Bentley design software, including MicroStation, GEOPAK, and OpenRoads Designer, as well as MS Office
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to mentor and supervise engineers and technicians effectively

Compensation:  

The approximate compensation range for this position is $105,591 to $155,129 per year. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
