What is transportation media?

Transportation media refers to specialized substances or materials used to preserve and transport biological samples, such as bacteria, viruses, or cells, from one location to another without compromising their viability or integrity. These media provide a controlled environment that prevents the overgrowth of contaminants and protects the sample during transit. Transportation media are commonly used in medical diagnostics, research, and clinical laboratories to ensure accurate test results. Examples include viral transport media (VTM) and bacterial transport media, each formulated for specific types of specimens. Proper use of transportation media is crucial for maintaining sample quality until analysis.
