Job Description

The firm is seeking an experienced messenger to join our headquarters in downtown New York City. The primary responsibilities include picking up and delivering documents, packages, and other items between offices or departments within the Firm, traveling by foot, bicycle, automobile, or public transportation.

Responsibilities:

  • Walk, ride bicycles, drive vehicles, or use public transportation in order to reach destinations to deliver messages or materials in a timely manner
  • Plan and follow the most efficient routes for delivering goods
  • Load vehicles with listed goods, ensuring items are loaded correctly and taking precautions with fragile items
  • Unload and sort items collected along delivery routes
  • Receive messages or materials to be delivered, and information on recipients, such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, and delivery instructions, communicated via telephone, two-way radio, or in person.
  • Deliver messages and items, such as newspapers, documents, and packages, between establishment departments, and to other establishments and private homes. Reconcile packages at recipients location.
  • Maintain communication with destination and point of departure through radio or cell phone
  • Understand privacy rules and not tamper with package or document
  • Maintain records of daily visits in the log book
  • Confirm deliveries by checking into the office after each delivery
  • Work independently and cooperatively within specified section
  • Comply with section policies, procedures and escalation protocols
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years prior experience as a messenger
  • Ability to acquire and learn job skills with three months of on-the-job training
  • Must be punctual and able to stay late if/when necessary
  • Able to lift and carry objects weighing from 15 to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
  • Thorough knowledge of NYC subway system
  • Possess a clean drivers license

Compensation:

For job postings in New York City, Oppenheimer is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. This salary range is specific to the City of New York and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making salary decisions including but not limited to your skills, qualifications, experience, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $35,360.00 - $35,500.00 at the time of this posting. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus.
