Main responsibilities:

  • Manage all Transportation Operations
  • Oversee all product movement for the Division.
  • Supervise up to >200 drivers and direct the workforce.
  • Manage dedicated truckload operations including cost and on time service performance.
  • Analyze equipment lifecycle costs and work with Corporate Transportation for the purchasing of appropriate equipment for trucking operations.
  • Coordination of transportation operations with Distribution Center
  • Management and Warehouse Operations.
  • Provide superior service to retail stores through on-time delivery and timely return of salvage.
  • Provide a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Proven ability to manage employee relations (policy, contractual, leadership).
  • Communicate with, and listen effectively to employees.
  • Responsible for profit and loss of Transportation Department including employee costs, worker’s compensation, equipment, and facilities.
  • Develop budgetary and departmental goals.
    Implement cost-saving measures within the department.
  • Participate on the negotiating team in all distribution center union contract negotiations.
  • Keep abreast of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; ensure all employees and equipment are in D.O.T. compliance.
  • Optimize the utilization of equipment and staffing in a dynamic environment.
  • Execute corporate vision and foster a lean distribution, continuous improvement environment.

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • 4-year college degree in Logistics or Business preferred.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in the transportation field including private fleet management.
  • Expert use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and associated applications is strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of transportation related software including: routing optimization software (CAMS Prospero; truck on-board computer software (Omnitracs XRS); dispatch software (CAMS Prospero).
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to manage effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to mentor staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proven track record of cost reduction and increased productivity.
  • Strong labor relations skills including contract administration, negotiations and arbitrations.
  • Excellent operations planning and follow up.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in operating within the guidelines of DOT,
  • OSHA, FSMA, SFTA and other regulatory agencies.
