Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Transportation Design Engineer is a professional with 7+ years of progressive experience in transportation engineering and design. This role is primarily focused on technical design and project execution, supporting the delivery of transportation projects across multiple phases. The position will provide project support, client coordination, and quality control under the guidance of the Department Manager and Project Managers.

Office Location: Cherry Hill, NJ or King of Prussia, PA


PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Perform analysis of existing conditions and develop transportation engineering designs for Agency clients.
    • Prepare construction plans, technical reports, and engineering calculations.
    • Support Project Managers in the planning and coordination of project tasks.
    • Assist in developing job plans and monitoring schedules and budgets.
    • Maintain strong technical knowledge of design techniques, procedures, regulations, materials, and specifications.
    • Ensure client and corporate quality control procedures are followed throughout project delivery.
    • Coordinate with internal project teams and external stakeholders.
    • Interact with clients and subconsultants in support of assigned projects.
    • Review project deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
    • Perform site visits during construction phase for client support.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
• Experience working on Heavy Transportation projects preferred.
• Experience on NJDOT, NJTA, PANYNJ, PennDOT, PTC, and City of Philadelphia projects preferred.
• Knowledge of DEP and stormwater regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Working knowledge of NJDOT, PennDOT, and AASHTO design manuals and procedures.

  • Strong Technical background in transportation engineering, traffic and roadway engineering

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License Required, New Jersey or Pennsylvania with the ability for multiple reciprocal states
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:

  • No supervisory experience required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Work requires frequent and prolonged computer use. May occasionally be lifting up to 25 pounds.

TOTAL REWARDS:

The annual base salary range for this full-time position in the United States is $95,000 - $185,000. This range represents a good faith estimate and is based on factors such as the role, level, and geographic location. The range shown reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for this position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors including skills, experience, education, and training.
