Job description

General Description:

The Shift Assistant Engineer will provide support for conducting maintenance operations and ensuring CTA engineering policies are upheld. China Telecom Americas is advancing transpacific enterprise connectivity through an end-to-end suite of custom-built IT/network solutions This role will provide critical 24/7 network monitoring for our Telecom network (Transport and Data network) and provide best in class troubleshooting. China Telecom Americas is committed to providing unparalleled service and support.

Major Responsibilities:

  • On duty engineer during rotating shifts of daytime, nighttime, and off hours. Monitor and maintain Los Angeles POP facility including but not limited at HVAC, AC UPS, DC power plant and fire pre-action system.
  • Response for Transport network, IP network monitoring.
  • Responsible to take all needed action on network facility and alarms according to company procedure.
  • Open tickets to related carriers and track ticket status.
  • Process customer trouble ticket, carrier trouble ticket and escalate ticket according to escalation procedure.
  • Envision CTA as the leading provider of innovative communications solutions that help people and businesses thrive in a more connected world.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Education Needed:

  • Masterโ€™s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • CCNA certification highly preferred
  • Experience of transport and IP network is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of computer and telecommunication network.
  • Excellent interpersonal and professional communications skills; verbally, written, face-to-face and over the phone in both English and Mandarin required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality of work.
  • Ability to work independently without heavy supervision and handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Availability to work day, evening, and off-hour shifts.
  • Flexibility to work seamlessly with global sales team in different time zones.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with CTA teams and peers during every interaction and maintain rapport with people of diverse backgrounds and professional levels.
