Job Summary
This position is for the role of Station Engineer or Protection & Control (P&C) Engineer within the Transmission System Operations Engineering (TSOE) organization. The role supports Configuration Management, Facility Verification, and Compliance activities necessary to maintain compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards, including FAC-008 requirements for Bulk Electric System (BES) facilities, as well as Configuration Management functions supporting non-BES transmission facilities.
The position is responsible for ensuring transmission system modifications are accurately verified, documented, modeled, and reflected within applicable systems of record. The role works closely with Engineering, Project Management, Transmission Field Services, System Planning, and Operations organizations to maintain alignment between installed field conditions, facility ratings, protection systems, asset records, operational models, and engineering documentation. s.
Job Description
What You'll Do:
Expected responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing engineering support to Transmission Field Services personnel during the commissioning, verification, and closeout of planned and unplanned work on the transmission system.

  • Reviewing upcoming outages, construction activities, maintenance work, and equipment replacements to identify and evaluate configuration changes that may impact facility ratings, protection systems, station assets, operational models, or systems of record.

  • Reviewing engineering drawings, relay settings, station documentation, facility ratings information, and project records to verify that systems of record accurately reflect approved as-built field conditions.

  • Performing facility verification activities required to maintain compliance with FAC-008 requirements for BES facilities and other applicable Configuration Management requirements for non-BES facilities.

  • Supporting Configuration Management processes to ensure alignment between physical assets, facility ratings, relay settings, operational models, engineering documentation, and associated systems of record.

  • Reviewing completed transmission construction and maintenance activities to verify that facility ratings, protection systems, asset records, engineering documentation, and operational models have been appropriately updated and accurately reflect the installed configuration.

  • Investigating configuration discrepancies, identifying root causes, and supporting corrective actions to improve data accuracy, process effectiveness, and Configuration Management performance.

  • Coordinating with Engineering, Project Management, Transmission Field Services, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure system changes are accurately verified, documented, modeled, and implemented in accordance with established timelines, procedures, and standards.

  • Supporting the maintenance of accurate facility ratings, relay settings, asset data, operational models, and engineering documentation required for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of the transmission system.

  • Identifying and escalating potential compliance, configuration, or data accuracy concerns that may impact reliability, operational readiness, or regulatory obligations.

Technical Expertise
Possesses entry-level knowledge and experience in applying engineering principles to solve well-defined technical problems and perform analyses under the guidance of experienced engineers. Assists with portions of larger engineering assignments and develops knowledge of transmission facilities, protection systems, facility ratings, Configuration Management processes, applicable reliability standards, engineering documentation, and systems of record. Demonstrates familiarity with applicable industry standards, codes, regulations, and business processes relevant to the assigned area.

Coordinates work activities as needed to support routine engineering assignments and Configuration Management activities. Demonstrates working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and standards while performing work under appropriate supervision. Supports routine project planning, scheduling, verification, and implementation activities associated with transmission projects and Configuration Management work. Monitors assigned tasks, identifies potential risks or delays, and recommends corrective actions as appropriate. Develops an understanding of project workflows, outage coordination processes, and compliance-driven timelines while accomplishing work according to established plans and schedules.

Engineer Sr (Grade 8)
Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*; Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Individuals with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.

ENGINEER PRIN(Grade 9)
Has typically acquired 8 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 6 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is preferred for this position unless approval to waive this requirement is given by the organization's EVP.*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Individuals with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Acceptable alternative is:
(1) a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.** Confirmation is preferred to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
***VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with an Non ABET accredited program
