Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a professional, reliable, and bilingual Somali Translator & Front Desk Administrative Assistant to support our Human Resources department on a temporary basis at our factory in Le Center, Mn. This position serves as the first point of contact for employees, applicants, and visitors while providing interpretation and translation services for Somali-speaking individuals.

Because this role is located within the Human Resources office, the successful candidate must demonstrate the highest level of confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive employee and company information.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide verbal interpretation between Somali and English for employees, applicants, and HR staff.
  • Translate written documents, forms, and communications as needed.
  • Greet and assist visitors, applicants, and employees in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Answer and direct phone calls and email inquiries.
  • Schedule appointments and assist with HR-related meetings and orientations.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with administrative tasks and data entry.
  • Support onboarding and employee communication activities.
  • Handle confidential employee information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Fluency in Somali and English (spoken and written) required.
  • Previous translation or interpretation experience preferred.
  • Administrative, receptionist, customer service, or office experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the office during the workday.
