Position Summary
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), in partnership with IU Health Medical Group (IUHMG), is seeking a highly motivated and academically oriented cardiovascular and autopsy pathology. This recruitment is part of a strategic expansion driven by continued growth across the IU Health system and goals that align with the strategic priorities of the IU School of Medicine and the IU Health Cardiovascular Institute.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative faculty team within a nationally recognized academic medical center. The Pathology team serves 10 hospitals within the IU Health Hospital network and Eskenazi Health. Anatomic pathology is currently comprised of 55 pathologists. The successful candidate will contribute to a thriving pathology program that supports clinical excellence, education, and research.
The Cardiovascular Pathology service will focus on evaluations for allograft rejection, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy, vasculitis, amyloidosis, degenerative aortic diseases, and valvular diseases, among others. Candidates will also be expected to participate in a subset of medical autopsy services. There are extensive opportunities for clinical and translational research in collaboration with The Cardiovascular Institute.
The academic track and rank of the appointment will be determined by qualifications and level of experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide diagnostic services in cardiovascular pathology, including heart, valvular, and peripheral vascular specimens.
  • Participate in the autopsy service, with a focus on complex cardiopulmonary cases.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and interdisciplinary clinical initiatives.
  • Provide on-call coverage and conference support with department faculty members
  • Conduct and support scholarly activities and collaborative research.
  • Actively participate in educational activities with medical students, residents, and fellows.

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate or Terminal degree is required. The applicant must be certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology or anatomic and clinical pathology. Fellowship training or substantial experience in cardiovascular pathology. A demonstrated expertise or strong interest in autopsy pathology. Additionally, applicants must be qualified for licensure in the state of Indiana.
