Position Summary
IU Health Medical Group and the Indiana University School of Medicine are seeking a mid-career or established academic medical oncologist to join the Genitourinary (GU) Oncology Program. This is a tenure track position faculty position within the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology, at the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine.
This position is designed for a physician-scientist with focused expertise in GU malignancies and a strong commitment to translational, laboratory-based, and preclinical research. The successful candidate will join an established and highly active GU oncology program with a robust clinical trials portfolio and will help advance laboratory-driven discoveries that inform novel therapeutic strategies, biomarker development, correlative science, and investigator-initiated clinical trials.
The ideal candidate will have an independent laboratory program focused on GU cancer biology, drug development, biomarkers, mechanisms of resistance, tumor microenvironment, immuno-oncology, radiopharmaceuticals, antibody-drug conjugates, targeted therapies, or other areas of translational relevance to GU malignancies.
This role will include a disease-site-focused clinical practice in GU oncology, with at least 50% effort dedicated to translational research, laboratory investigation, and collaboration with clinical trial teams. The candidate will be supported with protected research time, a competitive startup package, laboratory space, access to NCI-designated cancer center resources, and robust clinical trial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead a laboratory-based and/or preclinical research program focused on high-impact areas relevant to GU malignancies, including disease progression, therapeutic resistance, biomarker discovery, tumor biology, and novel drug development. The candidate will collaborate closely with GU clinical investigators to translate scientific discoveries into clinical trial concepts and to strengthen correlative science across the program's clinical trials portfolio.
Clinical responsibilities will include expert care of adult patients with GU cancers, with a clinical footprint aligned with the candidate's research goals. The candidate will also be expected to pursue peer-reviewed funding (potential program project grants including SPOREs), publish in high-impact journals, mentor trainees and junior faculty, participate in multidisciplinary and disease-site research programs, and contribute to the academic mission of the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree
- Board eligible or board certified in Medical Oncology
- Fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology or Medical Oncology
- Ability to obtain an Indiana medical license
- Focused expertise in GU oncology
- Track record of scholarly productivity, including publications, presentations, and/or grant funding
- Strong interest in integrating translational research with therapeutic clinical trials
- Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, mentorship, and academic program development
Preferred Qualifications
- Established laboratory program in GU oncology or a closely related field
- Track record of peer-reviewed funding or strong potential for sustained extramural funding
- Experience developing translational concepts that inform clinical trial design
- Experience collaborating with clinical trialists, basic scientists, pathology, precision genomics, and industry partners
- National or emerging national reputation in GU oncology translational research
