Job description

AI Transformation Lead, Life Sciences (Commercial)

Location: US East Coast, remote-first with travel
Type: Full-time, individual contributor
Travel: Approximately 20–30

Our client is looking for an AI Transformation Lead to help enterprise life sciences and pharma customers identify, shape, and deliver high-impact commercial use cases. This role will sit within the Value Engineering team and work closely with sales, pre-sales, customer success, product, marketing, and senior leadership to bridge the gap between product capability and real-world commercial workflows.

The ideal candidate will have lived on both sides of the table - inside large pharma commercial teams and within consulting, systems integration, or technology businesses that serve them. You will guide enterprise buyers from first conversation through live deployment, helping customers unlock value across field force optimisation, HCP targeting, next-best-action, launch analytics, and commercial operations.

Role overview

This is a strategic, commercially focused role for someone who understands both pharma commercial execution and the delivery of technology-enabled transformation. You will help shape how our client sells, what they build, and how customers realise measurable value.

Key responsibilities

  • Own AI transformation advisory work alongside Sales and Pre-Sales to qualify opportunities, define high-impact use cases, and build compelling business cases anchored to measurable ROI.

  • Help enterprise pharma buyers identify where digital workers can replace or augment manual commercial workflows, from brand planning analytics to field force effectiveness.

  • Build and present business cases that quantify value through cost savings, speed-to-insight, and revenue uplift for C-suite and VP-level stakeholders.

  • Advise customers on organisational readiness, adoption playbooks, and governance frameworks to support pilot-to-enterprise deployment.

  • Partner with Customer Success post-sale to drive adoption, expansion, and renewal, while identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.

  • Feed market and customer insights back into Product, Marketing, and Sales to refine positioning, packaging, and roadmap priorities.

  • Represent our client externally by speaking at industry conferences, leading executive roundtables, and serving as a trusted voice in the life sciences AI community.

What success looks like

  • New logo acquisition through direct contribution to closing new enterprise pharma accounts.

  • Net Revenue Retention through expansion and renewal revenue across assigned accounts.

  • Pipeline influence through opportunities sourced or materially advanced by your advisory work.

  • Faster time-to-value by accelerating customers from contract signature to first deployed digital worker.

Candidate profile

Essential experience

  • 10+ years in life sciences or pharma, with significant time in a commercial leadership role such as brand management, commercial operations, field force strategy, or launch excellence.

  • Experience at a consulting firm, systems integrator, or technology vendor serving pharma commercial organisations.

  • Hands-on delivery of automation or AI projects in a commercial pharma context, including RPA, ML/AI analytics, or agentic AI deployments.

  • Strong ability to build business cases and present to VP- and C-suite-level decision-makers.

  • Deep understanding of pharma commercial workflows, including HCP targeting, next-best-action, patient analytics, field operations, promotional analytics, and commercial data ecosystems such as IQVIA, Symphony, and Veeva CRM.

Preferred experience

  • Familiarity with enterprise change management frameworks such as Prosci or Kotter.

  • Exposure to causal inference, causal AI, or advanced analytics beyond standard machine learning.

  • A strong network within US pharma commercial leadership circles.

  • A track record of influencing product or platform roadmaps based on customer insight.

  • Comfort working in a high-growth, Series A environment where the playbook is still being built.

Personal qualities

  • Commercially sharp, with a strong focus on revenue, ROI, and deal velocity.

  • Credible with senior pharma stakeholders because you understand their world.

  • A builder who wants to create a function, not inherit one.

  • Intellectually curious and current on AI, agentic systems, and the evolving technology landscape.

Why this opportunity

Our client is disrupting the traditional commercial life sciences consulting space by automating time-and-materials work that slows clients down. The business already has live enterprise deployments with organisations including J&J, Syneos Health, Parexel, and Cisco, and is backed by a $45M Series A with strong enterprise traction.

This is a small team with outsized impact, offering the chance to shape how the company sells, deploys, and grows in the world's largest pharma market. Compensation includes a competitive base salary, performance bonus tied to company growth, and equity participation subject to seniority and location.

Hiring process

  • Two calls with the hiring maager.

  • A three-hour challenge and presentation.

  • A final conversation with the CEO
