Director, Finance Transformation & Business Intelligence

Position Summary

The Director, Finance Transformation & Business Intelligence will lead the modernization of Finance by driving process transformation, automation, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making. This role partners closely with the Global Controller, Director of FP&A, IT, Operations, and executive leadership to improve processes, enhance reporting, optimize financial systems, and build scalable capabilities that support business growth.

Unlike traditional Accounting or FP&A leadership roles, this position focuses on how Finance operatesโ€”improving systems, processes, reporting, analytics, and organizational effectivenessโ€”while enabling finance leaders to focus on strategic business support and stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Transformation

  • Lead redesign and improvement of finance and accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year Finance Transformation roadmap.
  • Reduce manual work and spreadsheet dependency through standardization and automation.
  • Establish governance for finance processes, reporting standards, and data definitions.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance operations.

Reporting & Business Intelligence

  • Enhance management reporting, KPI dashboards, and executive reporting.
  • Define meaningful financial and operational performance metrics with business leaders.
  • Improve reporting quality through BI tools and standardized data sources.
  • Strengthen data governance to ensure accuracy, consistency, and trust in reporting.
  • Deliver insights that support strategic decision-making.

Planning & Performance Management

  • Support improvements to budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
  • Partner with FP&A to enhance forecasting methods and financial models.
  • Improve visibility into business performance through standardized reporting and KPIs.

Systems, Automation & Technology

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Partner with IT to enhance ERP functionality, data integration, and reporting platforms.
  • Support ERP and business intelligence enhancements.
  • Evaluate and recommend finance technology solutions, including AI-enabled tools.

Change Management & Organizational Effectiveness

  • Lead change management for new processes, systems, and operating models.
  • Develop communication, training, and adoption strategies to ensure sustainable change.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Mentor finance team members and support capability development.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives across Finance, IT, Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams.
  • Align stakeholders to improve business processes and enterprise reporting.
  • Influence outcomes across the organization without direct authority.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 10โ€“15 years of progressive experience in Finance, FP&A, Finance Transformation, BI, or Financial Systems.
  • Experience leading enterprise finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with financial planning, reporting, and analytics solutions.
  • Experience driving finance automation and process improvement.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Commercial, IT, and Executive Leadership.
  • Experience with ERP and BI platforms.
  • JD Edwards (JDE) experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with tools such as Power BI, OneStream, Hyperion, or Anaplan preferred.
  • Manufacturing and private equity-backed experience preferred.

Education

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Preferred Certifications

  • Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt)
  • PMP certification
  • Prosci or Change Management certification
  • CPA, CMA, or similar finance certification a plus
