The Lead - Finance Strategy, Special Projects & Solution Design is responsible for leading high-impact strategic initiatives. These initiatives advance Finance priorities through solution design, process improvement, operating model enhancements, and the application of emerging technologies. This role partners closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities. It develops practical solutions and drives execution of initiatives that improve efficiency, strengthen decision-making, and deliver measurable business value.
While the primary focus of the role is special projects and solution design, the successful candidate will also support Finance portfolio management activities in the near term, helping to drive prioritization, initiative sequencing, portfolio reporting, budget oversight, and value realization across key Finance investments.
This position requires a strategic thinker who can translate complex business challenges into actionable solutions, influence stakeholders across the organization, and successfully lead initiatives from concept through implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategic projects focused on process improvement, solution design, operating model transformation, and automation opportunities across Finance.
  • Partner with Finance leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to assess business needs, define requirements, and design solutions that address operational and strategic priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and innovative approaches to improve Finance capabilities and performance.
  • Support the development and evolution of Finance target-state capabilities, operating models, and strategic roadmaps.
  • Analyze operational, financial, and strategic considerations to help leaders evaluate investment options and business decisions.
  • Drive execution of approved initiatives, including project planning, stakeholder coordination, issue resolution, progress monitoring, and executive reporting.
  • Facilitate collaboration and best-practice sharing across Finance and partner organizations to promote alignment and continuous improvement.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts requiring coordination across Finance, Technology, Data & Analytics, Governance, and business teams.
  • Contribute to Finance portfolio management activities, including prioritization frameworks, initiative sequencing, dependency management, project reporting, budget tracking, and value measurement.
  • Develop presentations, recommendations, and executive-level communications that clearly articulate objectives, progress, outcomes, and realized value.
  • Support organizational change management activities, including communications, training, and capability-building efforts.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators and value metrics to measure initiative success and business impact.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Six (6) or more years of experience in strategy, transformation, process improvement, solution design, project management, consulting, portfolio management, or a related discipline.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience leading complex projects or strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess business challenges, develop practical solutions, and drive execution across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information and translate business needs into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience building relationships and influencing stakeholders across functions and organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MBA or related discipline).
  • Experience supporting portfolio governance, prioritization, project reporting, budget management, or value realization activities.
  • Experience with process design methodologies, automation technologies, analytics, and emerging technology capabilities.
  • Experience working within healthcare, insurance, or another complex and highly regulated industry.
  • Experience partnering across Finance, Technology, Data & Analytics, or Enterprise Transformation organizations.

Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$115,200 - $158,400 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
