Bunker One is part of Bunker Holding, the world's largest marine fuels organization, with operations spanning 22 locations globally and headquartered in Denmark. Our Houston office supports physical fuel supply and trading across the US Gulf Coast, working with barges and vessels to deliver fuel oil, distillates, and blended products to shipping customers. We're a team of about 140 bunkering specialists handling the full chain of cargo operations — from specification and testing to inventory management — built on technical expertise and dependable service.

Bunker One's physical operations are supported by financial hedging in the derivatives market. We're looking for a colleague to work closely with physical traders and sales in Houston, providing derivative hedging solutions for physical exposure. You'll also collaborate closely with the derivatives trading team based in Denmark and Singapore.

Your key responsibilities

As an Oil Derivatives Trader you will join an experienced and established global trading desk, within an international company, with access to physical assets andan extensive client base. Based in Houston along with the local physical trading and sales team, you will become part of a truly global workplace that services its clients and physical asset base by trading oil products, biofuels, carbon, power and natural gas.

  • Implement effective derivatives pricing and hedging strategies to optimize physical exposures and drive franchise growth.
  • Develop and execute profitable trading strategies, carefully managing position size and risk across both proprietary and client deal flows.
  • Carry out daily desk tasks, including marking forward curves, providing market updates and engaging with physical trading and sales colleagues.
  • Share market intelligence and tactical approaches, contributing to the collective knowledge and strategic direction of the trading team.
  • Assist in risk management of global trading books that include oil & gas and biofuels during US hours.
An experienced trader and a team player

You arestructured and proactive in your daily work. Youare expected topossess a proven understanding of risk and enjoy being part of a diverse sales and trading team.

Furthermore, we expect you to have:

  • 2-3 years’ experience trading with fuel or distillatederivatives, with a P&L responsibility, at a Bank/Financial institution or physical trading house.
  • If you are less experienced and have insight and interest in oil derivatives tradingplusexceptional learning capabilities, we welcome your application.
  • Sound understanding of oil and oil products is essential, with knowledge of biofuels and transition fuels an advantage.
  • A disciplined approach to managing risk.
  • Excellent understanding of trading systems, exchange rules and OTC markets.
  • Thorough understanding of financial derivatives’ risks, regulations, and product specific trading rules.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Be based or willing to relocate to Houston, with valid US work permissions.
