YOU MUST ANSWER ALL REQUIRED QUESTIONS AND COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED SECTIONS OF THIS APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR EMPLOYMENT WITH IREDELL COUNTY OVERVIEW & PURPOSE: Part-Time Recreation Assistant position works up to 10 hours per week year-round with compensation depending upon experience. A Part-TimeRecreation Assistant for Iredell County will primarily be responsible transporting active adults and youth to and from trip destinations.

The incumbent in this position will be required to hold and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Additionally, in the event program coverage is needed, this incumbent may be responsible for assisting with a variety of programs/special events geared towards different age groups. Additional duties include program and special event support, meeting and program preparations, and other recreational duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: CUSTOMER SERVICE: Must be able to greet, communicate with, and answer questions for citizens through phone conversation and in person, with tact and willingness to serve. COMMUNICATION: Excellent communication skills are required. JUDGMENT: Uses good judgment while making decisions regarding all facets of the safe and effective use of county equipment, and in representation of the department in the office setting and at functions and programs.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Pays close attention to details, including data entry, schedules, deadlines, and overall appearances and cleanliness of office setting TEAMWORK: Works as a valuable team member with others in scheduling, maintaining, operation of equipment, and work. DEPENDABILITY: Available on a regular basis to work during week and some weekends. Arrives on site on time.

Follows procedures. TRANSPORTATION: A CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is required for this position. You will be required to drive participants in a 24-Passenger Bus.

SAFETY: The Program Assistant will be responsible for assisting with minimizing risks for each participant and co-worker, within programs, during office business hours, or otherwise. EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: Understands emergency procedures and is comfortable responding to situations in a professional and calm demeanor. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Ability to handle unexpected circumstances. Must have a developed understanding of teamwork and communication. Ability to work with other people, and enforce procedures.

Strong attention to detail. Friendly, safety conscious, and mature. Confident with performing work alone or with a team.

Typical Qualifications EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE "REQUIREMENTS": Minimum Age 18. Must possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher. Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License.

Must possess a North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL), P endorsement is a plus. Must obtain Vehicle Safety Training prior to operating county vehicle. ADDITIONAL "REQUIREMENTS": Must obtain Vehicle Safety Training prior to operating county vehicle.

First Aid and CPR Certificates are a plus or must be willing to obtain through offered training. Friendly, safety conscious, mature, confident with performing work alone or with a team. Ability to handle unexpected circumstances must have a developed understanding of teamwork and communication, ability to work with other people, and enforce procedures and strong attention to detail.

"PREFERRED" QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office Programs, Internet, and other various programs are preferred.
