Job description

Overview
The Training Business
Development Strategist drives the growth and commercialization of Cirrus
Aircraft's flight training business by identifying new revenue opportunities,
expanding existing offerings, and bringing customer-centered training products
and services to market.
Working
cross-functionally with Flight Training, Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience,
Service, Product, Finance, and external partners, this role evaluates
opportunities, builds business cases, supports go-to-market execution, and
tracks performance.
This position focuses on
business development, market expansion, partner engagement, and training
product commercialization rather than instructional design. The role partners
closely with subject matter experts and operational teams to ensure solutions are
practical, aligned with Cirrus standards, and deliver meaningful value to
customers and the business.
The ideal candidate
combines strong business acumen, aviation training awareness, customer focus,
and the ability to influence and execute across teams in an evolving
environment. This position is based at the Cirrus Vision Center in Knoxville,
Tennessee, reporting to the Director-Services Training Development.
Responsibilities
Business Development & Revenue Growth
  • Identify, evaluate, and advance new revenue opportunities across training products, services, partnerships, and delivery models
  • Support growth strategies for Cirrus Approach™ through market analysis, customer segmentation, packaging, and pricing inputs
  • Research customer needs, industry trends, and competitive offerings to inform opportunity development
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of training business opportunities, including new customer segments, partnerships, and recurring revenue models
  • Develop business cases outlining revenue potential, customer impact, operational requirements, costs, risks, and execution approach
  • Recommend improvements to existing offerings to increase adoption, retention, and revenue performance

Training Product Commercialization
  • Partner with subject matter experts and operational teams to translate market needs into commercially viable training offerings
  • Support development, packaging, launch planning, and lifecycle management of training products and services
  • Coordinate cross-functional launch activities, ensuring alignment on timelines, requirements, and communications
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Experience teams to support positioning, campaigns, and sales enablement
  • Monitor product performance (revenue, participation, satisfaction, utilization) and recommend improvements

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as a cross-functional connector across Flight Training, Sales, Marketing, Service, Finance, Product, and partner organizations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support growth initiatives
  • Support partner and customer engagements, including training providers, fleet operators, and aviation organizations
  • Communicate opportunities, recommendations, risks, and performance insights to leadership
  • Influence outcomes through collaboration, preparation, and clear communication

Business Operations & Performance
  • Tack and manage business development initiatives, including pipeline, timelines, risks, and outcomes
  • Prepare presentations, business cases, and recommendations for leadership review
  • Use data and customer insights to prioritize opportunities and guide investment decisions
  • Support annual and quarterly planning, including revenue forecasting and growth initiatives
  • Partner with Finance on pricing analysis, projections, and performance tracking
  • Travel up to 25% domestically and internationally

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's
    degree in Business, Aviation, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent
    experience)
  • 7+
    years of experience in business development, product management, commercial
    strategy, or similar roles
  • Demonstrated
    ability to evaluate market opportunities and develop business cases tied to
    revenue growth
  • Experience
    working cross-functionally to support product launches or commercial
    initiatives
  • Strong
    analytical skills, including experience with financial modeling, forecasting,
    or performance tracking
  • Excellent
    communication and presentation skills across operational and leadership
    audiences
  • Proven
    ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Preferred
  • Experience in aviation, flight training, or
    aerospace industry
  • Familiarity with general aviation training
    (transition, recurrent, or owner development programs)
