Technical Training Specialist
Department: Sales CT
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Chester, CT
Description
The Technical Training Specialist develops and delivers technical training and sales enablement programs for employees, distributors, dealers, upfitters, and customers. This role bridges Engineering, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Support by translating complex technical concepts into practical training, competitive positioning, and customer-focused solutions that drive product adoption, sales growth, and customer success.
  • Must reside within the East North Central Region (IL, IN, MI)
  • Domestic travel up to 50%

Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Training & Development
  • Develop and deliver instructor-led, virtual, hands-on, and e-learning training programs.
  • Create certification programs, learning paths, and technical training materials.
  • Maintain content to reflect product updates, engineering changes, and best practices.
  • Measure training effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

Sales Technical Enablement
  • Support sales teams with product demonstrations, technical presentations, and customer-facing content.
  • Develop technical value propositions and competitive positioning materials.
  • Assist with RFPs, bid responses, and complex solution recommendations.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers and Authorized Managing Sales Representatives to support key customer opportunities.

Product Expertise & Competitive Analysis
  • Create technical comparison tools and competitive intelligence resources.
  • Train sales teams on product differentiators and objection handling.
  • Gather field insights to strengthen technical messaging and sales effectiveness.

Customer & Field Support
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert during customer visits and demonstrations.
  • Conduct site evaluations and recommend product solutions and system configurations.
  • Provide train-the-trainer support for dealers, distributors, and upfitters.
  • Support pilot programs, deployments, and installation best practices.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Customer Support, and Operations to align training and technical messaging.
  • Support new product launches through training development and delivery.
  • Contribute to initiatives that improve customer experience, product adoption, and revenue growth.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Education, Business, Communications, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in technical training, product training, technical sales support, or a related role.
  • Experience delivering classroom, virtual, and hands-on training.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Experience supporting sales teams and customer-facing technical engagements preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50%.
