POSITION FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Head of Human Resources, the Employee Development & Trainer develops, implements, and evaluates employee learning, leadership development, onboarding, and organizational development initiatives that support the Bank's strategic goals. This role partners with leaders across the organization to identify development needs, enhance employee performance and engagement, support talent development and retention efforts, and facilitate organizational change.


The Employee Development & Trainer oversees new hire orientation, compliance training, leadership development programs, learning technologies, financial literacy initiatives, and workforce development grants. Working collaboratively with Human Resources, Compliance, executives, managers, and business units, the role promotes a culture of continuous learning, organizational effectiveness, and employee growth.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Learning/Organizational Development & Partnership

  • Partners with leaders, Human Resources, and business units to identify and address employee development needs; develops learning programs that support the bank's strategic plan and annual business goals.
  • Partners with managers and Human Resources to support employee growth, performance improvement, career development, and succession planning efforts by designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, leadership development initiatives, and employee development resources.
  • Supports employee engagement, leadership development, retention, and talent development initiatives throughout the organization. Promotes the Bank's mission, values, and culture while staying current on industry trends, learning technologies, and best practices.

Onboarding and Employee Development

  • Coordinates and manages the Bank's new hire orientation and onboarding programs to support a positive employee experience.
  • Develops onboarding plans, training materials, and development resources for employees across the organization.
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and employees throughout the onboarding and training process. through individual one-on-one coaching for skills development during the initial training period and supporting post-training coaching, as needed.ย 
  • Partner with Retail Banking, Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, Information Technology, Compliance, and other business units to identify training needs resulting from new products, regulatory changes, and system enhancements.ย 
  • Will evaluate and recommend industry specific external training webinars, programs, certifications, or degrees by job family and communicate via Savers intranet and create a centralized library of employee training resources.

Bank Core System Training

  • Design, develop, and deliver instructor-led and virtual training programs on the bank's core processing system for new hires, existing employees, and system upgrades.ย 
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for the bank's core banking platform, ensuring employees understand system functionality, navigation, transaction processing, and operational best practices.ย 
  • Create and maintain training materials, user guides, job aids, videos, quick reference tools, and e-learning content related to the core system.ย 
  • Evaluate trainee competency through assessments, observations, and practical exercises, providing coaching and additional instruction as needed.ย 

Compliance and Learning Systems Administration

  • Works with Compliance, Human Resources, and department leaders to administer required compliance and role-based training programs.
  • Maintains learning systems, training records, assignments, and reporting to ensure accurate documentation and completion tracking.
  • Develops and manages online learning content and educational resources.

Organizational Effectiveness and Change Management

  • Supports initiatives that improve employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and workforce development.
  • Leads and coordinates projects related to onboarding, employee development, leadership development, and process improvement.
  • Assists managers and employees through organizational changes by providing training, communication, and support.

Financial Literacy and Community Education

  • Develops and delivers financial literacy programs and educational presentations for employees, schools, and community organizations.
  • Maintains relationships with community partners and educational vendors to support financial education initiatives.
  • Supports the Bank's community outreach efforts through financial wellness and education programs.

Vendor and Grant Administration

  • Manages relationships with training and education vendors, including vendor reviews, contract administration, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Researches, applies for, and administers workforce development grants and training reimbursement opportunities.
  • Maintains required documentation, reporting, and records related to grants and vendor management activities.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, education, HR or Organizational Development preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a banking
  • Minimum of 3 years training and development experience
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of Bank regulations, policies, procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge of training principles, practices, methods, and programs
  • Experience in the design and implementation of employee training
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor
  • Must be a self-motivated, resourceful, and innovative individual with proven ability to interface effectively with all levels within the organization
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and deal with sensitive issues in a discrete and ethical manner.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organization, analytical, planning, strategic thinking, independent decision-making, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated and flexible.
  • Exceptional follow-up and follow-through supported through time-management, organization, and attention to detail in all tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequently moves within the branch to perform duties and assist clients; may stand for extended periods while handling cash and banking documents; reviews documents and computer screens with sustained visual focus.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items under 20 lbs., such as supplies or files; assembles and transports promotional displays for events; may adjust work hours or works extended shifts as needed.
  • Infrequently stoops, kneels, or reaches to access lower storage or file drawers; may travel between branches, regional offices, or external events.
