Main responsibilities:

  • Position Purpose

    The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Bakery Department. This role ensures exceptional customer service, high-quality product presentation, food safety compliance, inventory management, and team development while helping achieve departmental sales and profitability goals.

    Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales
    • Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
    • Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and custom cake requests.
    • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Support department sales goals through effective merchandising and promotional execution.
    • Maintain attractive displays that showcase bakery products and drive sales.
    Bakery Operations
    • Assist with daily bakery production, packaging, stocking, and merchandising activities.
    • Ensure product quality, freshness, and presentation meet company standards.
    • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering bakery supplies and ingredients.
    • Oversee product rotation and minimize waste through proper inventory management practices.
    • Ensure all bakery cases, displays, and storage areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
    • Support execution of seasonal and promotional bakery programs.
    Team Leadership & Development
    • Assist with supervising, scheduling, training, and coaching bakery associates.
    • Provide direction and support to team members during daily operations.
    • Promote a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and customer service.
    • Assist with onboarding new employees and ongoing associate development.
    • Serve as acting department leader in the Bakery Manager's absence.
    Food Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, sanitation standards, and company policies.
    • Monitor proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature control procedures.
    • Maintain department cleanliness and sanitation standards.
    • Support workplace safety initiatives and ensure associates follow safety protocols.
    • Participate in department audits and corrective action plans as needed.
    Merchandising & Inventory Management
    • Monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability and minimize shrink.
    • Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying product quality.
    • Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional displays.
    • Execute merchandising plans, planograms, and special event displays.
    • Analyze sales trends and recommend product assortment adjustments when appropriate.
