The Seneca, SC Plant is a specialty chemical catalysts manufacturing and precious metals refining facility. The Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting the daily operations of their assigned production area.
We are seeking a professional like you to support the day-to-day operation of your assigned production area, providing technical assistance in executing the required production plan. You will own Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Equipment Procedures (EP's) and Batch Instructions, lead troubleshooting efforts, and interact with Operations, Maintenance, and other operational support personnel. You will generate and complete MOCs and provide operational forecasts to other business units to enable transparency and commercial decision making.
As an Operations Engineer, you will LEAD by..........
  • Contributing to the achievement of production goals while meeting established standards of Safety, Efficiency Quality, Cost and Environmental Protection
  • Supporting Capital Plan and Project Execution of existing and future Capital projects as Manufacturing Representative. Acting as the first point of contact for capital projects and improvement projects for your assigned areas.
  • Supporting environmental and compliance requirements through emissions calculations, spill prevention, and reports for permit compliance as well as provide leadership in root cause failure analysis for production, EHS, and quality Incidents. In addition, you will be on-call and respond to any after-hour event that impacts production or EHS.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting expertise to Daily Operational Team for plant problems that occur as well as provide guidance and input to the achievement and development of plant goals, objectives, and operational budgets. Working closely with Area Leaders to align technical support with needs of plant operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Collaborating with other Operations Engineers to provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to Daily Operational Team for plant problems that occur. Balancing workload across your assigned areas, including on-call engineering coverage during off hours.
  • Maintaining process documentation and P&ID's to current, creating and maintaining Operating procedures, Process Safety Information, and other process documentation (P&ID's, equipment specification sheets, etc.) as well as managing the material backlog and provide production plans to Operations.
  • Providing operational forecasts to other business units to enable transparency and commercial decision making.
  • Assisting the department in the coordination, planning, and execution of shutdown or turnaround work including maintenance and capital activities.
  • Driving standardization across shifts and optimization of operating costs; partner with other site/area functions for standardization and best practice sharing across the site.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership in safe plant operation and adherence to BASF ECMS Occupational and Process Safety rules and policies.

  • Experience in a chemical/refining or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of engineering principles and their practical application in a plant environment.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations and process equipment including boilers, gas fired furnaces, solids handling and milling equipment, powder blending/sampling, chemical reactors, extruders, etc.
