Job description

Summary
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, the HVAC Controls Engineer I is responsible for the overall success of software design, program creation, and the implementation of procedures and standards used in the programming of controls projects. The role will primarily involve programming of HVAC and utilities plant sequences using building automation controllers and languages. This role will be an onsite position that will support projects in person in the Greater Boston Area.
Responsibilities
A key member of the Albireo team, the HVAC Controls Engineer I will be responsible for:
  • Review of project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to understand project intent.
  • Breakdown scope of work into manageable segments and communicate to Project Manager / Engineering Manager for scheduling.
  • Attending and/or receiving meeting minutes from software and graphics review meetings with customers (including customer representatives, general contractors, or commissioning agents).
  • Creating and routing project programming specific "Request for Information" (RFI) documentation to Systems Engineer, Project Manager, and Engineering Manager.
  • Following sequence of operations as required by project documents and develop engineered sequence of operations and commissioning documents, utilizing established standards.
  • Startup and commissioning of large systems, such as AHUs, chiller plants, or other utilities systems. Includes installation/configuration of workstations, servers, and network.
  • Software programming of HVAC/utilities sequence of operations, installation, and commissioning.

Requirements
  • Engineering degree from accredited college or university. Degree can be offset by minimum 2 years of industry experience.
  • Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
  • Experience and interest in electrical, computer science, IT, and controls is ideal.
  • Experience with building automation / PLC programming (function block preferred) or other programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to and work on construction sites for commissioning/startup.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Respond to feedback and communicate effectively with engineering team members.

Salary Range DOE: $73,000-$100,000 USD yrly
