What is a Trainee Epic ATE Support?

A Trainee Epic ATE (At-the-Elbow) Support is an entry-level role where individuals assist healthcare staff with using the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system during its implementation or upgrade. These trainees provide hands-on guidance, answer user questions, and help troubleshoot issues directly on the clinical floor. The position is typically temporary and ideal for those seeking to gain experience in healthcare IT, particularly with Epic systems. Trainees work under the supervision of experienced support staff and often receive training before deployment.

Collaboration with clinical staff, IT colleagues, and senior Epic analysts is essential, which can be initially daunting but greatly accelerates learning and integration into the team.
