Job description

Architectural Products of Virginia (APV) is a leading commercial security integrator and distributor of access control, security, door, frame, and hardware solutions, serving customers throughout Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. Under the direction of the Vice President of Sales, you will serve as an Access Controls Sales Trainee within the Security Account Executive Development Program for APV. The Access Controls Sales Trainee (ACST) plays an important role in the day-to-day operations of the company's sales efforts, supporting both contract customers and end-user customers. This critical position serves as a vital link between the customer and the company while developing the skills necessary to become a fully commissioned Security Account Executive.

About the Role:
  • Work closely with a Security Account Executive to assist in estimating, closing, and managing access control and electronic security projects.
  • Conduct customer visits to strengthen relationships, identify opportunities, and educate stakeholders on APV's security solutions.
  • Perform customer site assessments and needs analyses to identify opportunities for system installations and service agreements.
  • Prepare proposals and quotations according to established guidelines and follow up with customers to convert opportunities into awarded business.
  • Collaborate with APV's Security Integrations team to ensure projects are delivered with quality and on schedule.
  • Represent APV as a reliable and innovative provider of access control systems, security products, doors, frames, and hardware solutions.
  • Develop new business opportunities through networking, industry events, trade shows, training programs, and customer engagement activities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity tracking, quote management, and pipeline activity.
  • Partner with Operations, Customer Service, Accounting, and other departments to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Support leadership with forecasting, reporting, and sales pipeline management activities.
  • Work with leading technology partners and customers across education, government, healthcare, multifamily housing, and data center markets.
  • Continually develop personal skills, industry knowledge, and technical expertise to transition into a full commission-based Security Account Executive role.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of sales experience within a complex, technical, and diverse B2B business environment is strongly desired.
  • Experience with security integration, access control systems, or electronic security products is highly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain Virginia DCJS registration and successfully pass required background checks.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, or Acumatica.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate technical and operational information.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and committed to professional growth.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the region as required.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record meeting company and insurance requirements.
