Job description

Management in Training (MIT) - Assistant Store Manager

Summary:
The Management in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides employees with work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs to be promoted to retail store's Assistant Store Manager. From the start date in the Management Training Program, it may be possible to progress to a management position within approximately 3 - 6 months, depending on the trainee's prior experience and performance and learning progress during the Management Training Program (MTP). To participate in the program, the trainee must meet the qualifications of the Assistant Store Manager listed below.

Assistant Store Manager Responsibilities:
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day business activities and functions of every store department and provide support as necessary as determined by Store Manager, such as production, sales, and distribution of products to achieve high operational and merchandising standards.
  • Act as a role model to provide exemplary customer service and performance while performing all store activities to build a positive and productive environment and represent the company's core values.
  • Support the store manager in gathering and analyzing sales and cost data to recommend effective action and promotional plans to improve sales and maximize productivity.
  • Supervise proper merchandise sale prices, product levels, inventory logistics, and store presentations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and operational sustainability within budgetary limits.
  • Advocate all stakeholders to follow company policies and procedures and government regulations, especially in safety, security, and loss prevention.
  • Supervise all store members to effectively perform Omni channel services and initiatives and all accounting, administrative, maintenance, and marketing duties.
  • Assist in all personnel activities such as coordinating staff work schedules, assigning appropriate duties, recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, employee evaluations, promotion, demotion, and terminations.
  • Assist in evaluating all department and employee performances to meet company objectives and financial projections and appropriately reward and retain outstanding employees with growth opportunities.
  • Assist in investigating and documenting customer service and employee complaints while partnering with internal representatives to address employee relations and operational issues to prevent issues from escalating.
  • Support in environmental and sustainability initiatives addressing recycling, conservation, and waste management issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualification:
  • An Associate degree in Business Administration or related fields is required.
  • 1 year of managerial experience or equivalent in a retail setting is required.
  • Bilingual in English/Mandarin, English/Cantonese, or English/Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to work assigned schedules, including weekend, and holidays as needed.
  • Currently possess or have the ability to possess a Food Handler’s certificate.

  • Knowledge of food production process, product lines, and labeling.
  • Knowledge and understanding of employment laws, including compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations established by the company and government.
  • Advanced attention to detail, communication, leadership, and time management skills.
  • Advanced active listening, execution, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adhere to constant and challenging deadlines.

  • Ability to establish goals and guide employees to complete duties effectively.
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate the quality of products.
  • Proficient with computer programs and software to enter data and process information.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking are required.
  • Ability to use manual dexterity to grasp, manipulate, and assemble objects.
  • Ability to work in an environment that may be wet and dry and with varying temperatures and noises.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds at times or more with appropriate equipment.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Position Details:
  • Employment Type: Full Time.
  • Salary: start at $25/hour for the training period.
  • Store location:345 E. Main St. Alhambra CA, 91801.
  • Working & Training will take place across various locations based on program rotations, including retail stores, headquarters, and logistics centers, depending on business and company needs, providing participants with comprehensive hands-on experience across different areas of the business.
