POSITION SUMMARY:

Trading Post Staff is responsible for providing prompt, courteous and accurate service to campers and parents in the trading post. Sales, account management, loss prevention, and building cleanliness are also responsibilities of this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Sales

ยท Set up camper accounts and create vouchers.

ยท Handle cash and credit card sales quickly and accurately.

ยท Stock merchandise on a daily basis.

ยท Accept and check all deliveries.

ยท Notify Trading Post manager of low stock.

ยท Safeguard against loss by being aware of unwanted behaviors and report concerns to other staff members.

Guest Services

ยท Provide excellent customer service as demonstrated by positive remarks on guest surveys.

ยท Conduct themselves in a professional manner including wearing appropriate attire, nametag, and being responsive and helpful to guest questions.

ยท Set a good example for participants including cleanliness, language, and sportsmanship.

General Responsibilities

ยท Demonstrates cooperation, support and flexibility toward fellow staff, programs, and the goals and philosophies of the Fairview Lake YMCA Camps.

ยท Clean and organize Trading Post building, including storage areas and grounds.

ยท Punctual to work and program areas. Prepare in advance for assigned activities.

ยท Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities. Communicates concerns and all supply needs to the appropriate director in a timely manner.

ยท Submit all required reports on time.

ยท Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

1. High School Diploma required, college credits/degree preferred.

2. Strong problem solving and leadership skills.

3. Ability to do basic arithmetic and use a computer.

4. Effective oral and communicate skills. Ability to communicate in various venues, i.e., public speaking, presentations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions which includes walking on uneven terrain, the ability to carry 30 pounds, sustained standing in various indoor and outdoor settings.
