General Description: 

The Application Engineer Intern will support Intrepid's Sales and Marketing teams while gaining hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and demonstrating automotive vehicle network solutions, Intrepid hardware and software products, customer engagement, and technical support. This internship is designed to provide practical exposure to technical learning, customer interactions, the latest automotive network technology, and real-world customer support within the automotive electronics industry.


This internship provides a customer-facing opportunity to support and develop engineering applications for OEMs and Tier 1 customers using Intrepid's ecosystem of hardware and software products. 


The intern will work closely with Technical Support, Sales, Marketing, and Field Application Engineers (FAEs) while completing assigned projects and assisting with customer interactions, training activities, and trade show support.


Interns will gain exposure to customer applications, automotive network technologies, technical demos, and real-world engineering support activities within the automotive electronics industry. 

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Python and/or C++ through coursework, personal projects, internships, or hands-on experience
  • Exposure to embedded systems, hardware debugging, or automotive communication tools is a plus
  • Familiarity with Linux environments or command-line tools is a plus
  • Interest in automotive electronics, serial data, CAN, LIN, Ethernet, or vehicle network technologies
  • Previous internship, project, coursework, or hands-on experience related to automotive technology, engineering, technical sales, or customer support
  • Familiarity with technical troubleshooting or customer-facing environments
  • Experience using CRM, marketing, or event management tools
  • Interest in application engineering, technical support, engineering, training, or any of our other roles at Intrepid.

Essential Job Functions:


Technical Exposure & Engineering Functions
  • Assist with developing and configuring technical demos using Intrepid hardware and software tools for customer presentations, training sessions, and trade shows.
  • Support engineering validation and troubleshooting activities related to automotive communication networks, including CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Collaborate with FAEs and Engineering teams to create demo setups, test environments, and customer application examples showcasing Intrepid solutions.
  • Contribute to scripting, automation, or software-related projects using Python and C++ to support demonstrations, testing activities, and internal engineering tools.
Projects & Outreach
  • Complete assigned internship project(s)
  • Create and/or update automotive network training
  • Conduct outreach to prospective and new customers through Zoom, email, phone, and social media
  • Demonstrate proficiency in sales, support, and training-related activities
Trade Shows & Marketing Support
  • Assist with trade show demo setup, teardown, and booth support
  • Engage with customers and capture lead information at events
  • Support marketing and customer engagement initiatives
Customer Engagement
  • Assist with customer support via phone, Zoom, email, and on-site interactions
  • Participate in customer calls and engagement activities
  • Learn Intrepid's consultative sales approach and sales processes
  • Utilize sales tools such as Pipedrive, Mailchimp, Eventbrite, and Bluesky
Training & Support
  • Assist with trainings once proficient with Vehicle Spy and related tools
  • Support FAEs and Technical Support teams with customer solutions
  • Assist with demos and technical documentation

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree related to automotive technology, engineering, business, marketing, or a related field; or possess equivalent industry experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and common business software tools
  • Ability to learn technical concepts related to automotive vehicle networks and Intrepid products
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Salary:

$17 - $20 an hour
