Job description

Join Our Team as an Attorney at Axiom

We are seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Professional with leadership or management experience and a strong background supporting technology, software, cloud, or SaaS companies. This role will focus on leading and managing global trade compliance activities, including import/export compliance, product and technology classification, export controls, licensing, and cross-border trade requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage import and export compliance programs across global business operations.
  • Oversee export classification, including Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) determinations for software, technology, hardware, and related products.
  • Manage import and customs classification, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and related requirements.
  • Provide guidance on the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), export licensing, license exceptions, end-user/end-use restrictions, and country-specific controls.
  • Lead trade compliance initiatives involving the cross-border transfer of software, source code, technical data, cloud services, hardware, and technology.
  • Develop, implement, and enhance trade compliance policies, procedures, processes, controls, and training programs.
  • Lead teams, projects, or cross-functional initiatives and provide direction on complex trade compliance matters.
  • Partner with legal, compliance, product, engineering, supply chain, procurement, and business teams to integrate trade compliance requirements into business operations.
  • Identify compliance risks, conduct assessments, and drive remediation and process improvements.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and communicate their potential impact to business leaders and key stakeholde
Qualifications:
  • Significant professional experience in global trade compliance, import/export compliance, or export controls.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting technology, software, cloud, SaaS, or other technology-driven organizations.
  • Leadership or management experience, including experience managing teams, programs, projects, or major cross-functional initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with both import and export compliance.
  • Strong experience with product, software, and/or technology classification, including ECCN and HTS classification.
  • Strong working knowledge of the EAR, export licensing requirements, and applicable U.S. import/export regulations.
  • Experience managing complex trade compliance matters in a global or multinational environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and senior business leaders.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience managing or developing trade compliance teams or serving in a trade compliance leadership role.
  • Experience building, implementing, or transforming a global trade compliance program.
  • Familiarity with OFAC sanctions, restricted-party screening, deemed exports, encryption controls, and technology transfers.
  • Experience supporting technology, SaaS, software, cloud, semiconductor, or related industries.
  • Experience partnering with product, engineering, supply chain, procurement, and global operations teams.
  • Experience with trade compliance systems, automation, audits, investigations, and continuous process improvement.
Compensation:

The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year.ย Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.ย  Employees may be eligible for additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance; paid holidays and PTO; flexible work arrangements; and professional development opportunities and tools.
