Track Press Technician Position Purpose

Responsible for repairing undercarriages using track presses and other equipment.

Track Press Technician Essential FunctionsĀ 

  • Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
  • Receives written instructions on type of repair required and interprets correctly
  • Relocates equipment into designated work area and safely supports and blocks for the removal of the undercarriage
  • Disassembles equipment as determined by the type of repair needed, using appropriate tools
  • Positions work pieces to align the layout for the repair
  • Operates power press or power brake machines as required by the job
  • Disassembles, inspects, repairs, and reassembles undercarriage components
  • Removes,Ā reinstalls, and torques track pads from completed link assemblies
  • Assembles equipment and conducts a quality check of repairs before submitting for release
  • Maintains equipment used to make repairs using regular and routine checklists within a regularĀ timeframe
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Ensures consistent and reliable on-site attendanceĀ 

Track Press Technician Minimum Qualifications

  • One (1) year of experience in using a track press in a similar environment or related experience in lieu of actual track press operation
  • One (1) year of experience in heavy equipment or a similar environment in preventive maintenance
  • One (1) year of experience using hydraulic presses, jacks, and power-operated tools
  • One (1) year of experience and knowledge in using calipers and in taking, reading, and using measurements to accomplish the repair correctly
  • Experience in using forklifts and other mechanical lifting devices
  • Experience in using a variety of automated hand and machine assembly tools
  • Ability to understand and comply with all safety standards
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

Track Press Technician Physical Requirements

  • Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying up to 100 pounds without assistance
  • Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold and/or wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors associated with the shop
  • Physical ability to perform maintenance on equipment for extended hours of time with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workday
