Who we’re looking for

Toyota Financial Services is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to play a critical role in driving architecture, design, delivery and technical excellence across dealer experience platform. This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on rapid proof‑of‑concepts, technical evaluation, and solution design. The role supports architecture by turning ideas into working prototypes, assessing feasibility, and helping guide technical direction through practical experimentation and code‑based validation.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead system design and architecture with microservices and event‑driven architecture for complex, distributed platforms supporting consumer/ dealer portals, origination systems, pricing and credit decisioning engines, and downstream consumers using modern cloud native platforms
  • Perform rapid technical assessments of tools, patterns, and solutions
  • Write code to validate ideas and demonstrate feasibility
  • Collaborate with third‑party vendors and external partners to evaluate capabilities, define integration approaches, and assess technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product on solution direction
  • Translate high‑level concepts into practical technical approaches
  • Identify risks, tradeoffs, and implementation considerations early
  • Support design decisions with hands‑on experimentation and analysis
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and business stakeholders
  • Champion the use of AI assisted engineering tools to improve developer productivity and delivery quality.
  • Coach and mentor engineers on system design, code quality, and operational excellence building strong technical depth across the team.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated experience on large‑scale, distributed systems.
  • Hands‑on ability to perform rapid technical assessments, evaluate tools and solution options, and write code to validate ideas and feasibility.
  • Experience collaborating with third‑party vendors and external partners to assess technical fit, define integration approaches, and drive POCs.
  • Deep hands‑on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and microservices architectures.
  • Strong experience designing and deploying cloud‑native applications on AWS, including ECS, Fargate, IAM, and VPC.
  • Proven ability to design and operate event‑driven architectures for pricing, incentives, and credit workflows.
  • Solid understanding of observability and operational excellence, using tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
  • Good front end and data experience to drive quick prototypes independently.
  • Added bonus if you have AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) certification.
  • Experience working within automotive or financial services ecosystems, especially dealer‑centric platforms.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Bedrock or AI/ML integrations for automation, decisioning, or developer productivity.
  • Background in driving platform modernization or large‑scale system transformations.
