Summary

The Automotive Software Engineer supports embedded software and systems engineering activities for NEXTY Electronics America (NEA), primarily through on-site engagement at DENSO International America (DIAM) in Michigan. Working alongside DIAM engineering teams, the role encompasses automotive‑grade embedded software development and support across a range of automotive domains. In addition, the engineer provides secondary support to NEA’s North American business development efforts, contributing engineering and systems expertise to expand NEA’s presence in Automotive Software and AI‑related domains.

What You’ll Do
  • ECU Software and System Support – DENSO International America (DIAM): Provide embedded software development and evaluation /verification support for systems such as ADAS, PaaK, RCCM ECU systems developed. Serve as the bilingual technical liaison for on‑site technical support. Coordinate with DIAM software teams and DNJP (Denso Japan) to identify, document, and report technical issues, including on‑site and remote Q&A sessions with Toyota engineering teams.
  • NEA Automotive Software Business Development Support: As the first dedicated software engineer in NEA, assist in identifying and scoping new software opportunities with TMNA, TCNA, and other Toyota Group customers. Evaluate technical feasibility of proposals and collaborate with Japan Software Division on joint engagements and capability building.
  • Partner Technology Assessment & Business Enablement: Collaborate with NEA's external technology partners to understand their software and systems capabilities. Translate partner technologies into actionable engineering proposals and support Business Development in positioning partner solutions to target customers, including the Toyota Group.
  • Japan Collaboration & Specification Analysis: Collaborate with Nexty Japan Software team on shared projects, knowledge transfer, and specification activities as a bridge between the U.S and Japan.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by NEA from time to time in its sole discretion.
What You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 6‑9 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficiency in embedded C / C++ programming for automotive ECUs (Renesas RH850 or equivalent)
  • Full understanding of the automotive embedded software development lifecycle: product planning, requirements definition, architecture design, detailed design, coding, integration, and system verification. MUST.
  • Familiarity with ASPICE or equivalent process frameworks preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret Toyota Motor Corporation vehicle control specifications and functional specifications (including TMNA‑issued documents)
  • Full professional bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese.
  • Travel Frequent (>25%) Travel Required.
