ANTICIPATEDย - CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY / PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Position Type: Full-Timeย 

$22.75 per hour

Position Overview

The Exeter Township School District is seeking a detail-oriented, accurate, and dependable Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join our business office team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing district-wide payroll, managing state and federal tax reporting, and overseeing the district's pension administration through PSERS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing & Taxes:
    • Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll data for all school district employees accurate to current contracts and schedules.
    • Calculate bi-weekly and monthly payroll taxes, ensuring timely wire transfers and accurate state/federal tax filings.
    • Prepare required quarterly and year-end tax forms, including annual W-2 preparation and distribution.
    • File periodic financial and demographic surveys required by state and federal entities.
  • PSERS Pension Administration:
    • Maintain precise demographic, contract, and employment service records for the Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS).
    • Upload monthly reporting files to the Pension Administration System.
    • Perform monthly reconciliations of reported employee wages, retirement contributions, and credited service time.
  • Financial Recordkeeping:
    • Maintain systematic, audit-ready financial and accounting records for the school district.
    • Assist the business office with general accounting tasks, reporting, and reconciliations as needed.

Qualifications & Requirementsย 

  • Education & Experience:
    • Required: High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 35 years of general accounting or business office experience.
    • Preferred: Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field with coursework in accounting/payroll.
  • Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
    • Strong working knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll software systems.
    • Proficiency with PCs and Microsoft Office Suite (advanced knowledge of Excel preferred).
    • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle confidential sensitive data.
