Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Your Responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Engineer at LeClaire Manufacturing, you will plan, coordinate, implement and support production through Manufacturing Engineering key functions.

Key Functions:

  • Provides support and technical troubleshooting for current operations.
  • Develops the written method of manufacture. Drives out process variability with implementation of error proofing methods.
  • Investigates, gathers and analyze data for daily operations that need improvement. Drives action and implementation of root-cause failure determined from analysis and Toyota Production System (TPS) techniques.
  • Coordinates shop floor action to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Monitors shop floor data in real time and takes action based on result.
  • Establishes routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, labor standards for revisions to current operations and new parts.
  • Implements advanced manufacturing processes utilizing IoT devices, databases, and advanced manufacturing software.
  • Performs manufacturing simulation of scheduling, design of parts, or layout.
  • Identifies and implements cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas.
  • Works with electronic and software tools to create process improvements or gather data.
  • Designs operations layouts to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Works with the production team to identify safety, quality and efficiency improvements, as well as coordinates implementation.
  • Implements new manufacturing processes and technology.
  • Basic troubleshooting of robots.
  • Technical troubleshooting of production machines.

Required Background and Skills

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing management tools, the various manufacturing data systems, and process management systems 
  • Background in Engineering (industrial, mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, power systems, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes; safety, quality, delivery, efficiency, 5S, lean manufacturing, process control.
  • Experience in one or more related engineering areas: industrial, mechanical, controls, electrical, methods, design, manufacturing, or quality.
  • Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools

Bonus Experience

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • Technical knowledge with PLC’s or controls engineering.
  • Programming knowledge for robots, PLC’s, or Java.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability and determination to solve root-cause. 

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline
