Job description

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a highly-skilled Senior Systems Administrator to join our team. This individual will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and securing enterprise systems, applications, and infrastructure. The role will lead efforts in installing software, deploying system upgrades, resolving server and desktop-related issues, and supporting complex Tier 2/3 problems. The administrator will also develop innovative IT solutions, evaluate emerging technologies, and implement practices aligned with the organization's IT goals.
The position involves leadership responsibilities in system management, technical support, and strategic IT initiatives that deliver competitive advantages to the company. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, logical problem-solving, and a commitment to innovation in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Manage software distribution systems enterprise-wide, including creation and maintenance of software deployments and Microsoft Office 365 thick client management.
  • Oversee enterprise phone systems, including IVR management, call routing, and settings configuration.
  • Manage enterprise print services, including printer management, deployment, and secure print service configurations.
  • Collaborate with a team of system administrators on Office 365 administration such as Teams, OneDrive, Exchange, SharePoint, and other future tools.
  • Administer group policies for Office 365 deployments using the Office Toolkit.
  • Serve as the lead administrator for Intune Mobile Device Management, leading app deployment, enterprise configuration, and security policy collaboration.
  • Administer email policies such as mail flow, forwarding, and spam filtering in collaboration with other team members.
  • Manage external domain DNS configurations.
  • Travel 1-2 times annually to new MTSI office locations to set up IT infrastructure, such as domain controllers, file servers, routers, switches, network wiring, phones, and conference rooms.
  • Monitor and respond to alerts in the internal network monitoring and alerting system for outages or performance issues.
  • Manage MTSI's emergency alert system for company-wide notifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software problems, including network equipment, desktops, laptops, and servers.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues for Windows 11, Microsoft Office, and other applications.
  • Maintain computer assets and ensure all asset management tools are up to date.
  • Design, develop, and implement hardware/software solutions, including hardware installations.
  • Manage Windows Active Directory infrastructure, including domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, and file servers.
  • Perform system utilization reviews, growth analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Recommend technical and process improvements for system efficiency.
  • Lead server deployments for new and existing projects.
  • Research vendor solutions for technical problems and oversee implementation.
  • Document system deployments and configurations.

Required Experience
  • 7+ years of IT System Administration experience.
  • Strong background in Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, hardware platforms, and LAN/WAN networking.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of image deployment systems, such as MDT.
  • Management of enterprise-level Mobile Device Management (MDM) systems.
  • Administration of enterprise VoIP systems and enterprise printer resources.
  • Handling user and group permissions within Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of Office 365 administration (e.g., Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Azure Active Directory).
  • Expertise designing and managing Microsoft Group Policy and Windows Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring systems.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and network hardware (switches/routers).
  • Proficiency managing endpoint deployment/asset management tools and managing network infrastructures.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a non-technical field is also acceptable with sufficient IT experience.

Desired Certifications
  • Enterprise-level certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCP).
