Job Responsibilities:

General Job Duties:

  • Ensure that you follow company policies and business objectives in the daily supervision of the operations of the company.

  • To support all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Decostar.
  • To perform daily cross-functional job assignments as required and per the department's established procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure a spirit of respect, cooperation, ethical conduct and fair dealing in all our operations between our internal, external customers and suppliers.

Specific Job Duties:

  • To direct and follow Decostar Industries health and safety policies and procedures that provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all Decostar Industries employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Exemplify the Charter principle for a safe and healthful workplace by correcting unsafe behaviors, eliminate or reduce the possibility of an employee injury due to hazardous conditions.
  • Immediately respond, in a positive and proactive manner to any Decostar employee's health and safety concern or suggestion.
  • Immediacy report any accidents, incidents or near misses to the Safety Department and complete the required Accident Reporting Forms within 24 hours.
  • Complete all required safety-related inspections.
  • Do not install or make changes to any equipment or machinery that may jeopardize the health and safety of any employee.
  • Ensure all employees, under your guidance, have received all required training to perform their job safely
  • Coordinate modifications, maintenance, schedule PM and perform PM on a regular schedule and repair of tooling to ensure availability for production.
  • Manage vendors and outside tooling shops to reduce costs and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Organize modifications and repairs to molds and provide all information required to production departments to allow for scheduling and completion of work.
  • Understand Decostar's tooling specifications and ensure all production tools meet the requirements.
  • Assist molding department technicians by troubleshooting tooling related failures.
  • Communicate and follow up on finished results to ensure final product meets customer specifications.
  • Support team efforts to improve quality, cost and timing of mold repairs or changes.
  • Work in a manner that contributes to meeting or exceeding department performance objectives.
  • Manage tool room supplies and inventories to ensure that needed materials are available.
  • Execute lock out / tag out procedures as required on all molding department equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain a high departmental standard of cleanliness in the Injection Molding and RIM molding areas.
  • Display professional conduct when dealing with customers both at Decostar and off site as required.
  • Organize training programs and potentially conduct training for tooling technicians to improve their skills and technical knowledge.
  • Advise department managers on technical issues and innovations that will enhance the effectiveness of Decostar's tooling.
  • Will perform the duties of a Maintenance Team Leader as required by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure that all work guidance's for the tooling area are accurate and all tooling maintenance activities comply with TS-16949 standards.
  • Provide leadership for molding department continuous improvement teams and coordinate implementation of improvement projects.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
  • Must be able to work shift work if required.
Skills and Experience Required:
  • Six years practical experience as a journeyman (apprentice mold maker).
  • Must have six years production environment experience in injection molding or related field.
  • Must have excellent welding skills and experience with machine tool equipment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret tooling drawings.
  • Must have experience polishing and fitting tooling components.
  • Must have basic electrical skills.
Education:
  • Must have an Associate's Degree in a technical field of study or a minimum of six years direct job related experience.
  • Computer skills an asset.
Physical Requirements:This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while sitting for up to eight (8) hours on a continuous basis.This position requires a person to have the ability to stand, walk or climb stairs a minimum of eight (8) hours on a continuous basis.This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis and 50 pounds on an infrequent basis. Good vision at a close distance as well as color acuity is required. Must be capable of performing a full range of repetitive motion for up to eight (8) hours a day.Training Requirements:
  • You will receive training to perform your job on an on-going basis concurrent with Decostar business operations. Training areas will include safety, quality, continuous improvement and other job specific training that is determined to be an essential part of your job and Decostar business operations.
