Job description

WORK SHIFT:
First Shift (United States of America)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for managing the Mold Shop activities in California to achieve continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Production and Cost in accordance with the goals of the Company. The Mold Shop Manager will perform their required duties personally or through Shift Managers or Shift Supervisors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for managing Shift Managers and Shift Supervisors for California Mold Shops
  • Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the Mold Shops to meet the needs of Manufacturing Departments, Safety, and Quality
  • Schedule and coordinate work to meet production needs by entering all production mold schedules into the AS400 Labor Tracker, either personally or through subordinate Shift Managers and Shift Supervisors.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to schedule maintenance and repair of molds, dies, and secondary tooling.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of molds, dies, and secondary tooling.
  • Serves as a technical resource for the North Carolina Mold Shop facility.
  • Work with the Sr. Mold Shop Manager to develop an annual budget for all molds, dies, and tooling requiring replacement.
  • Work with the Manufacturing and Planning teams to establish a timeline for all work on molds, dies, and secondary tooling
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to review all mold modifications and new mold designs.
  • Guide Mold Shop activities to improve mold repair, insert changes, and mold maintenance performance.
  • Solve problems that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
  • Advise Management of new developments that may affect profit, schedule, costs, and/or interdepartmental relations
  • Responsible for interviewing and recommending candidates to hire in cooperation with the Human Resource Department.
  • Responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work, as well as employee training and performance appraisals with associated rewards and discipline
  • Maintain reliable, consistent attendance, including punctuality and dependability, to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
  • Execute each essential duty satisfactorily in order to perform the job successfully.
  • Follows all safety procedures in the work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues related to equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
  • Performs effectively as a team member, able to work well with others, open to receiving and giving feedback, and treats everyone with respect.
  • Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
  • Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to the immediate manager.
  • Able to understand and demonstrate the Cambro company culture, display the company's core values (Safety, Quality, Respect, and Service).
  • Understands the department's key performance indicators and contributes to achieving these goals both individually and as a team.
  • Other duties as needed or required.

  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, remain flexible and open to possible schedule changes in order to meet business needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Five or more years of experience related to Injection, Compression, and Rotation molds and Pultrusion Dies, and five years of Supervisory experience in a Mold Shop or Manufacturing environment.
  • Must speak English proficiently and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess Strong math skills: basic trigonometry, decimal and fraction equivalence, and computation ability
  • Ability to effectively investigate problems and determine Root Causes in situations that involve a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists. Good reasoning ability.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to speak Spanish fluently.
  • AA or Bachelor's Degree from a college or University

COMPENSATION RANGE:
$113,000 - $145,000
Salary may vary based on experience.
