Summary


This position requires 100% travel

The MEP Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes on large-scale commercial construction projects. This role ensures that all MEP systems are installed correctly, safely, and in accordance with contract documents, project schedules, and quality standards. The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing subcontractors, coordinating complex systems, and fostering strong working relationships with both project teams and field personnel.

Primary Duties

  • Collaborate with preconstruction and design teams to review MEP scopes and ensure constructability.
  • Evaluate drawings, specifications, and submittals to identify coordination or schedule challenges proactively.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of MEP-specific schedules and logistics plans.
  • Oversee all MEP field activities, including subcontractor operations, inspections, and systems testing.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety standards, quality expectations, and all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager to enforce the project safety plan and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Supervise MEP subcontractors, ensuring timely material delivery and quality execution of work.
  • Monitor labor assignments and field productivity in coordination with the project team.
  • Facilitate weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors, field supervisors, and trade partners.
  • Lead MEP coordination efforts in collaboration with BIM/VDC teams.
  • Resolve field conflicts in collaboration with design teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure seamless integration of MEP systems with architectural and structural components.
  • Maintain daily reports and logs specific to MEP progress.
  • Track MEP progress against schedule and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
  • Support the development of RFIs, change orders, and punch lists related to MEP scopes.
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years as an MEP Superintendent OR 15+ years in construction with 2-5 years specifically managing MEP systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in commercial construction (experience in healthcare, data centers, or life sciences projects is a plus).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting MEP drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Familiarity with construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and scheduling software like P6.
