Brand Voice & Verbal Identity Lead
Aquent Studios | Embedded with a Global Enterprise Technology Brand
Location: Must be able to work Pacific Time Zone to be considered for this role
We're looking for a strategic Brand Voice & Verbal Identity Lead to help shape and scale a world-class brand voice across a complex global ecosystem. This is not a traditional copywriting role. It's an opportunity for a systems-minded brand storyteller who can translate voice and tone into scalable frameworks, enable cross-functional teams, and guide how a brand shows up across every touchpoint - from executive communications and flagship events to campaigns, product marketing, and digital experiences.
You'll sit at the intersection of brand strategy, verbal identity, and organizational enablement, partnering closely with brand creative, strategy, and operations leaders to evolve and activate a sophisticated voice and tone system already in motion.
This role is ideal for someone who understands that building a brand voice is only half the challenge - the other half is helping an organization successfully use it.
What You'll Do
Shape and Scale Verbal Identity
  • Help evolve and operationalize the company's voice and tone system across a broad range of audiences, channels, and experiences
  • Define how the brand flexes in different contexts - from executive-level communications and keynote messaging to campaign marketing, product storytelling, events, and web experiences
  • Develop nuanced guidance for varying audience tiers while maintaining a cohesive brand personality
Build Brand Enablement Systems
  • Translate strategic brand thinking into scalable frameworks, tools, and guidelines
  • Create practical enablement resources for writers, marketers, and communicators across the organization
  • Codify insights and recommendations into clear, actionable documentation that teams can apply independently
Lead Workshops & Organizational Adoption
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions across the writer and marketing community
  • Guide stakeholders through voice and tone exercises that help pressure-test and refine the system
  • Build alignment across executive, creative, and cross-functional teams through strong communication and influence
Partner Across Creative & Strategy Teams
  • Collaborate closely with brand strategy and creative leadership on defining the "what" and "why" behind verbal identity decisions
  • Work alongside creative operations and project management partners to execute and activate initiatives effectively
  • Help identify future-state needs and create a roadmap for cohesive brand evolution over the coming months
Provide Strategic Creative Guidance
  • Review and refine high-visibility messaging to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with brand standards
  • Offer recommendations on how tone should evolve depending on audience, platform, and context
  • Contribute strategic perspective to campaigns, launches, and integrated brand initiatives

What We're Looking For
Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in brand voice, copywriting, verbal identity, content strategy, or brand systems
  • Experience within large, matrixed organizations or agencies supporting sophisticated multi-brand ecosystems
  • Background working across multiple brand touchpoints including campaigns, events, digital, product marketing, and executive communications
  • Experience building systems and frameworks that enable others to write effectively for a brand
Skills & Strengths
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to flex tone across audiences and channels
  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to connect messaging decisions to broader brand goals
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops, trainings, and collaborative working sessions
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills
  • Systems-oriented mindset with experience operationalizing brand standards at scale
  • High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills; able to influence without direct authority
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping organizations move from guidelines to activation
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience within enterprise technology, SaaS, or B2B brands
  • Agency experience supporting multiple large-scale clients
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled writing workflows and scalable content systems
  • Portfolio showcasing both strong writing craft and strategic brand systems thinking

Why This Role
This is a unique opportunity to help define how a globally recognized technology brand communicates at scale during a major phase of brand evolution. You'll help bridge strategy and execution, bringing voice and tone to life not just through writing - but through the systems, workshops, and partnerships that make great brand communication sustainable across an entire organization.
