Commercial Loan Officer Assistant

Liberty Bank and Trust is part of history. For over 100 years, we've built our foundation on underserved communities, providing access to financial opportunities. With branches in 11 states, we continue to grow and seek a mission-driven Commercial Loan Officer Assistant eager to make an impact.

As we grow and build our team, we seek people who want to expand their horizons and surround themselves with inclusive, mission-driven peers who want to positively impact communities and families. We aim to uphold the legacy of Liberty Bank by providing affordable financial services to underserved communities, empowering homeownership, business growth, education, and careers. As a Commercial Loan Officer Assistant (CLOA), you will play a crucial role in supporting the Commercial Lending team by efficiently organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks while delivering exceptional service to customers. You will assist Lenders in servicing both new and existing commercial client relationships, gathering and organizing loan documents for new loans, renewals, and modifications. Additionally, you will coordinate third-party vendor work leading up to loan closings and collaborate with Credit Administration to book and maintain loans. Where appropriate, you will support loan closings by ensuring all required documents are in place.

In this role, you will maintain direct customer contact through phone and email communication and assist in gathering information for loan renewals, outstanding exceptions, and delinquent accounts. You will also help open new commercial deposit accounts while becoming familiar with Liberty Bank's loan policies, procedures, and approval processes. You will support Lenders by preparing and reviewing loan approval documents, loan documentation, and collateral documents, including valuation reports, title policies, and insurance coverages.

Furthermore, you will work closely with Credit Administration throughout the loan documentation, closing, and booking processes. Your administrative responsibilities will include handling voicemail backup, processing customer wire transfer requests, ordering appraisals, and coordinating with title companies and attorneys. Additionally, you will assist with other departmental duties or special projects as assigned.

As you might expect, we value every member of our team. That's why we offer competitive pay of $22 - $26 per hour and an extensive benefits package, including:

  • Comprehensive Health Coverage - Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance
  • Solid Work/Life Balance - PTO and paid holidays.
  • Financial Wellness and Security - FSA, 401K with matching, and educational reimbursement
  • Family Assistance - Adoption Assistance and EAP/Health and Welfare Assistance
  • Growth opportunities - Leadership Development
  • Substantial Perks - Online Marketplace includes various discounts on goods and services
  • ERG/ Ambassador Groups
  • Free and reduced-rate bank services

To thrive, you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) or 3-5 years of experience in banking, preferably in commercial lending, credit administration, or as an administrative assistant.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); knowledge of Fiserv Premier Navigator is preferred; experience with nCino is preferred; ability to use standard office equipment and financial calculators.
  • Solid data analysis skills, ability to identify data relationships, synthesize complex information, and design workflows.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, active listening, ability to build strong relationships, and work effectively in team environments.
  • Solid work ethic, ability to follow through on commitments, take independent actions, meet deadlines, and proactively seek opportunities for improvement.

Your responsibilities as the Commercial Loan Officer Assistant will include:

  • Work directly with commercial lending staff on loan origination, approval, and closing processes, including reviewing approved loan requests and boarding loans on the core system.
  • Order and organize necessary documents such as appraisals, title policies, environmental reports, and CIP information; maintain and update credit and appraisal files.
  • Process loan payments, line of credit advances, outgoing wires, and other transactions; oversee loan maturity and expiring commitment reports to ensure timely renewals.
  • Initiate the loan renewal process by collecting financial records from borrowers; assist in removing loan and collateral documentation exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Schedule appointments, coordinate loan closings with third parties, open new accounts for commercial clients, and gather and maintain relationship documents.

We do our best to ensure our banking institution is an incredible place to work and build a career. We want you to learn, grow, and share in the success you help create.
