Introduction:
Village Capital is seeking an experienced Escrow Officer Assistant/ Title Settlement Agent to join our growing mortgage operations team. This role is not with a title company-instead, the position operates in-house within our mortgage company and focuses on post-closing settlement review, compliance analysis, and corrective actions to ensure loan files meet regulatory and investor requirements.
This position is ideal for an experienced title or escrow professional who enjoys digging into files, resolving issues, and ensuring transactions are fully compliant after closing.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform post-closing review and settlement analysis of mortgage loan files.
  • Audit closing packages, settlement statements, and escrow documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify and resolve title, escrow, and settlement discrepancies.
  • Coordinate curative actions including missing documentation, recording issues, and title corrections.
  • Work with internal teams, closing agents, title companies, and county recording offices to resolve post-closing issues.
  • Ensure loan files meet investor, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Review recorded documents and confirm proper recording and lien position.
  • Maintain accurate records of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Assist with post-closing compliance and quality control initiatives.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience as an Escrow Officer, Title Officer, Settlement Agent, or Post-Closing Specialist.
  • Strong understanding of title insurance, escrow procedures, and mortgage closing documentation.
  • Experience reviewing HUD-1/CD, settlement packages, and recorded mortgage documents.
  • Knowledge of post-closing processes, curative work, and document compliance.
