Job Description

POSITION TITLE:               Speech Pathologist

DIVISION:                            First Steps

SUPERVISOR:                     Director of First Steps

CLASSIFICATION:              Non-Exempt

PURPOSE:

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for providing speech and language treatment for patients utilizing First Steps Programs.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Schedule and conduct First Steps Therapy sessions according to individual needs.
  • Evaluate therapy results and make recommendations regarding treatment.
  • Participate in division and agency meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records and data tracking of patient treatments.
  • Maintain great communication and professional relationships with clients, family members, and co-workers.
  • Good communicator, dependable, and compassionate.
  • REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have at least a Master's degree in speech and language therapy required.
  • Must be ready to complete or have completed the Clinical Fellowship Year or have at least applied for the Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA required.
  • Must be licensed or in the process of applying for licensure by the Indiana Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology and Audiology required.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Ability to maintain a valid Indiana driver's license, insurance on personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier, preferred. Driving and insurability may be required depending on agency need.
