Description
The Lead Sales Associate (LSA) will promote The King Center's core values, as well as the vision and goals of the Beloved Community. As we strive to become a Beloved Community Organization, the Bookstore and Resource Center (BRC) Lead Sales Associate must be willing to learn Nonviolence365โ„ข and incorporate it into leadership and customer service practices to support the King Center's mission. The Bookstore and Resource Center LSA will assist with leading team members in ensuring the highest standards of customer service and merchandise presentation while achieving budgetary sales goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Learn and disseminate information about The King's Center Nonviolence 365 program and The Six Principles of Nonviolence, special exhibits and organizational mission.
  • Bring positive recognition to The King Center's brand through professionalism, enthusiastic attitude, and effective communication.
  • Maintain a "team-oriented" outlook and uphold a superior level of customer service.
  • Maintain a neat and organized store environment to create a positive shopping experience for customers
  • Answer phone calls and respond to email inquiries from potential customers about products or services offered by the BRC
  • Prepare items for sale, including pricing, tagging, and stocking merchandise
  • Maintain strong knowledge regarding products, promotions, and special events in order to communicate to customers for more effective selling.
  • Consistently foster a positive store experience by treating all customers and team members with dignity and respect
  • Assist customers with selecting merchandise based on their needs and interests
  • Upsell products to increase revenue by offering complementary products to those being purchased
  • Establish a working relationship with all staff to support organizational initiatives and objectives.
  • Protect the security of cash, inventory, and other assets according to company guidelines and policy.
  • Work with the retail team to set, obtain and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals.
  • Ensure optimal staffing levels in each location; work with the Bookstore Manager to ensure optimum floor coverage.
  • Provide team members with directions to ensure proper movement of goods to the selling floor.
  • Demonstrate sales leadership for the team by playing an active role on the selling floor.
  • Execute Opening and Closing checklist duties as directed by store management to ensure the store is always ready for business.
  • Operate all register transactions including that of management (refunds, exchanges, associate sales, post voids, store credits, cash pulls)
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the merchandise and how it relates to the mission, programs and the King legacy.
  • Work with the bookstore leadership to monitor sales and product needs, communicating merchandise issues to keep merchandise in stock as needed and planned.
  • Oversee, shipping and receiving of merchandise in the POS inventory system.
  • Work with the bookstore Manager to devise a cohesive merchandising and display strategy for each store, creating an appealing, dynamic, and appropriate visual and sales-generating impact.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by upper Management without hesitation.
  • Make great book recommendations, engaging in genuine conversations with customers.
  • Act as a role model for others by being positive and helping to drive company initiatives.
  • Treat customers as the priority at all times by creating a unique and engaging shopping experience.
  • Respond to customers with sincere urgency and care.
  • Take pride in the bookstore by ensuring a clean and tidy shopping environment at all times.
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with others.
  • Seek and provide help and support when needed. Accept coaching and feedback from others openly.
  • Accept responsibility and execute all assignments with care and accuracy.
  • Must represent a positive attitude about the company and its initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
โ€ข At least 2 to 3 years of retail experience with at least 1 as sales lead.
โ€ข Experience managing high volume fast pasted environment.
โ€ข A strong background in customer service and sales.
โ€ข Experience with online retail store management.
โ€ข Business acumen and analytical skills.
โ€ข Visual merchandising experience.
โ€ข Must be able to lift and/ or move up to 30 pounds.
โ€ข Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
โ€ข Must be flexible to work rotating hours, including weekends as assigned by management.
โ€ข Ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Bilingual helpful.
