Job description

Small Girls PR is looking for a Vice President to inspire and guide day-to-day creativity and strategy for brands within the general consumer lifestyle spaces including, but not limited to food and beverage, CPG, consumer lifestyle and more.

Our clients turn to us for long-term strategy, brand narrative architecture, creative pitch angles, and out-of-the-box ideas that bring their positioning to life in thoughtful ways. As a team lead, this person will drive the client relationships, leading junior staff to deliver.

There is no one-size-fits-all for an SGPR client which means your career will be further enriched with meaningful and diversified experience. We've handled mergers for GE, announced Timothee Chalamet as the first-ever global brand ambassador for auto industry game changer Lucid Motors, launched paranormal investigations with Ring doorbells, created "buzzer beater" travel deals for Priceline during March Madness to help fans turn their basketball daydreams into courtside experiences, and put "The Pitt" star, Noah Wyle, in a red carpet tuxedo made from Figs scrubs.

Note: This role is based in our NYC office, working two days a week in the office on a hybrid schedule.ย

How you'll make an impact:

  • As a creative thought leader, you'll see your zaniest ideas turned into inspiring campaigns - this position plays host to weekly brainstorms, reverse engineers virality, and leads the creation of ownable moments for our brands
  • You'll act as the strategic lead directing high-level media strategy, brand messaging,ย  high stakes comms, and engineering best in class results for the accounts in your purview
  • You will oversee day-to-day work as well as the long-term professional development of 1-2 direct reports
  • You'll be a key part of new business, both in voicing the brands you are passionate about taking on, as well as developing the proposals and concepts that win the hearts and minds of new partners
  • You will have a finger on the pulse of the industry, ensuring we are creatively one-upping the competition with original campaign ideas, ownable moment ideation, and strategic insightsย

Why we'll love you:

  • You have 10 -13+ years of experience in media relations, communications, or public relations, with a track record of client leadership and warm, trusted reporter relationships
  • You're tapped into trends, communities, and cultural moments before they hit the mainstream, turning emerging concepts into smart, timely campaign ideas
  • You've personally dreamed up stunts or out-of-the-box PR ideas that others hadn't yet considered
  • You're known as a media relations savant, armed with a thick Rolodex and eager to pass on your knack for networking to others
  • You're organizationally strong - you plan, delegate, and prioritize effectively to move work forward
  • You're scrappy and nimble, thriving in fast-moving environments with shifting priorities
  • You instinctively know how to make a story sing, whether for a journalist, blogger, or a broader audience, by tapping into what makes something shareworthy
  • You're a client whisperer, earning and keeping client trust through strategic counsel and steady partnership
  • You've led PR strategies that moved the needle, driving headline-worthy coverage while advancing the brand's mission and vision
  • You've guided teams to success, consistently exceeding client KPIs and goals

Why You'll Love Us:

  • Atypical Time Off - Generous PTO that scales with tenure, in addition to Summer Fridays, Day of Rests for mental health, Caregiving days, and time off for Unsick Days dedicated to preventative care
  • Deep Work Focus - Our Smalls In Sync program ensures you have dedicated time for collaboration and strategic solo work
  • Comprehensive Benefits - A 100% employer-covered medical plan, 401k match up to 4%, dental, vision, and more
  • Innovation Leadership - Our agency was amongst the first to offer client brand campaigns on TikTok (back when it was still called Musical.ly), has been recognized for pioneering unique HR policies live on The Today Show, and our AI Leadership committee has been training our employees at the intersection of PR and AI for over two years (not two months!)ย
  • Vibrant Culture - Employee-led committees shape company policy and organize team celebrations from book clubs to outings

At Small Girls PR, fairness and equity are incredibly important factors throughout our hiring process. As a result, we work within salary bands to ensure our teams are compensated fairly. As a result, we have a set salary threshold for each role to ensure our teams are compensated equitably. For this role, employees are eligible for a variable bonus in addition to the salary threshold, therefore the pay range for this role is $146,500 - $163,000, as well as an additional bonus. Our senior level roles are accompanied by a compelling total compensation package.

The variable bonus is inclusive of several performance targets which are outlined in an offer letter. If you feel strongly that we are not aligned in terms of compensation, we highly recommend applying and discussing further with our Talent Acquisition team should we determine there could be a mutual fit!ย

Don't meet every single requirement for this role? Studies have shown that women and BIPOC are less likely to apply to jobs if they don't meet every single qualification listed. At SGPR we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role, but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

We are a diverse and high performing company that is dedicated to creating an inspiring workplace for all. It is the policy of Small Girls PR to provide equal opportunities to all qualified persons, and to recruit, hire, train, promote, and compensate persons in all jobs without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation.
