Description
Northwoods Insurance is seeking a highly motivated Commercial Insurance Sales Representative to drive new business growth and expand our commercial insurance portfolio. This individual will be responsible for prospecting, soliciting, quoting, and selling new commercial insurance accounts while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and prospects.
The ideal candidate is relationship-driven, results-oriented, and experienced in developing insurance solutions for middle-market and large commercial clients. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with business owners and executive-level decision makers while contributing to the continued growth of a leading insurance organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect, solicit, quote, and sell new medium to large commercial insurance accounts.
  • Identify and develop qualified prospects and appropriate insurance markets.
  • Design customized insurance programs and recommend coverage solutions based on client needs.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects and clients.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business owners, executives, and other key decision makers.
  • Represent the organization at industry events and networking opportunities to increase market visibility and brand awareness.
  • Meet or exceed established sales goals and performance objectives.
  • Survey client loss exposures and identify potential coverage gaps or difficult-to-insure risks.
  • Provide strategic risk management and loss control recommendations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, carrier partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Create sales reports and provide regular updates to leadership regarding pipeline activity and results.
  • Educate clients on agency billing procedures, payment expectations, and cancellation policies.
  • Stay informed of market conditions, carrier appetite, competitive products, and industry trends.
  • Identify and remove obstacles that may impede sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with marketing efforts, including social media and brand promotion initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • 2 to 5 years of commercial insurance sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active Property & Casualty Insurance License required.
  • Life & Health Insurance License preferred.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, CIC, or similar credentials are strongly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with executive-level and C-suite clients.
  • Strong consultative selling, business development, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, CRM platforms, HubSpot, Adobe, and related business tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, and utilize hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment.
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Work is typically performed in a professional office environment with a moderate noise level.
